Adding new graphics to a map.
This is not technically adding new units for a map, but it is fairly easy.
What you will need:
XCC Mixer
XCC MIX Editor
Your graphic
Art.ini
Rules.ini
Your map.map
1.] Start up XCC Mixer and extract yourself an art.ini and rules.ini [found in tibsun.mix --> local.mix]
2.] Make an entry in the art.ini for your graphic. Find a suitable candidate for your map and copy its entry. We will go with a tank for this tutorial.
3.] Make a [VehicleTypes] entry and add xx=YOURTANK, where YOURTANK is your tank and xx stands for the next avaliable slot, in your map. Then take the rules clipping and insert after it, making sure you have kept everything above the scrambling letters.
4.] Play your map. If everything went correctly, then you would have a new tank just for that map.
If there is anything wrong with this tutorial, PM me. I did this at midnight, so I may have messed up just a little. Enjoy, and post this tutorial where ever, just give me credit. _________________
You can't add new graphics to a map without having to carry the art.ini along, which interferes with mods. Limit your new units to existing graphics, or never share your map with anyone.
Oh, and the ini files can be found in other locations when you install Firestorm/patch your game. You should extract them from expand01.mix. Only if that file does not exist, should you go to tibsun.mix > local.mix. QUICK_EDIT
