In the first OMC, great mappers like Wes.com (winner of the second edition) and Dad A Tude (author of great maps for Tiberian Sun Retro) tied with 67%. They were 4th place. Now, on this edition, the map scoring the same 67% is the 7th place and that edition had only one extra valid map. This kinda shows the improvement of the quality of that are being maps submited, but I admit that none of the maps will beat Wes's Smokey's Valley.

The 7th place is Othalla, member from the Den Games Network Forums. He has been posting as guest here recently. His previous YR mapping experience has a whole map pack thumbed up at RADEN: the Reprisal Map Pack. And he showed that his TS mapping skills are similar, or better.

His map, The Clarions Call, could have been the winner of the TS part of the Open Map Competition if it had triggers, which is really a pity. The map offers the best fun factor from all submited maps. It's an well designed 8 player map with one refinery cloe to each base, with good details and nice for east vs west games. Here's the details:

Map Name: The Clarions Call

Our Tiberian Sun ranking now looks like this:

1st: ??????????? == ??.??%
2nd: ??????????? == ??.??%
3rd: ??????????? == ??.??%
4th: ??????????? == ??.??%
5th: ??????????? == ??.??%
6th: ??????????? == ??.??%
7th: Othalla :: The Clarions Call == 67.00%
8th: Yuri's 2000 Clone :: Mount Tiberian == 65.50%
9th: Yitzu :: Nasaspan Muja == 60.00%
10th: Hk_31 :: (FS) Tiberian Future == 44.33%
11th: Sorrow :: The Ancient Legacy Of The Fallen One == 41.33%
12th: TIE Pilot :: The Mutant City == 15.16%

Tomorrow we'll be revealing the Tiberian Sun 6th place that can be Absturz, Aurora 196, GeckoYamori, Muldrake, Tesla7zap or Willshire. Good luck for everyone and enjoy Othalla's map!

I'd just like to remind everyone that Ra2/YR maps and Generals/ZH maps are still being reviewed by the judges and we will reveal that results independently from the TS results. This means that we get RA2/YR results tomorrow, we'll keep posting one TS map per day and we'll also post one YR map in a separate news post.

I expected that, ha-ha. I wanted to add triggers but I was stupid enough to leave it so late  Laughing  My plan was to make the civilian arrays capturable (You probably noticed that there is one near each base). So the player would get a reveal all map or reinforcements. Never mind though, thank you so much for the chance to enter; especially as I submitted my map so close to the deadline.

However, it was my absolute intention to place the players the way I did. The idea was 1v1, 1v1, 1v1, 1v1 and the remaining 4 would battle it out 2v2 then 1v1.

Thanks again and best of luck to the remaining 6!
Very Happy

Well I loved this map. If it had triggers, it would have won it for me. May I include this map in my mod Novus Ordo?

I really liked this map too. It's just the terrain errors and lack of triggers that bring the score down. I see i guessed right about the idea of the map (the 1v1 x 4 battles)

It would be my honour; you’re very welcome to use my map in your mod Clazzy aslong as the OMC allows it. Don’t you guys have all the rights to my map now anyway?   Smile  Thanks very much for all your great comments too guys.

I registered too, lol.

Damn... what a shame #Tongue. But now I've fixed the trouble above. Fortunately, I didn't do this mistake at CnCCommunity.net.

Most interesting, if this is the best without triggers then surely the next 6 places will be amazingly close in their respective scores. It's anyone's game at this point!

TIE Pilot is going to kill me when he reads the score I gave him.

I'm not sure if this is the best without triggers, but this would win if it had at least 14 points with triggers.
