Open Map Competition 3: TS 6th place is...
One of the main changes from this edition of the Open Map Competition to the old ones is the ammount of judges and the valid score rule. Now each game has at least 5 judges as you should know and, from the five rates each map receives, we cut the best and the worst and make the avarage of the other three. Thanks to this rule, Aurora196 has gained 2 positions. His overall score is lower than Othalla's (7th) and Yuri's 2000 clone's (8th).
So, the 6th place is Aurora196. Aurora and Tesla7zap were the only submitters that participated from all editions of OMC. He registered on PPM and TiberiumSun to participate from the first edition, getting the 3rd place with the map 'In The Line of Fire' scoring 67.5%. In the second OMC, he submitted a kick ass map known as 'Tiberium Atmosphere' that had an insane layout and a cool lighting. Unfortunatelly, some of the judges didn't share the same opinion than I and lowered his score to 65%. He was the 5th position with that. Aurora is also staff from Civil Disorder. He creates voxels and maps for that mod.
His map for the third edition is FS Tiberium Lake that is extremely detailed for a 8 player desert map and with a top notch cliff work. It seems that some judges got lost in the map during their play. With his map, he got his best valid score, but his worse position in the OMC. I'm still surprised with the high ammount of quality maps from this edition. Here's the details:

Tomorrow we'll be revealing the 5th place from the Tiberian Sun maps. I'd like to congratulate Absturz, GeckoYamori, Muldrake, Tesla7zap and Willshire for being the top 5. These will be awarded with prizes. The 5th position will get a special map space at CnC Depot. Good luck for everyone and enjoy Aurora's map! QUICK_EDIT
Great Scott! Okay, I made it this far, I'm really suprised, especially after seeing the latest two maps.
(Must say "The Clarions Call" is my favourite so far.)
But you can't really say any of these maps have been losers, there has been some really fantastic work brought up here.
Well, good luck to the rest of you, and I really can't wait to see these next maps..
And well done to the existing maps so far. I really liked them. (And I would strongly suggest working on fixed versions, to really finish off the map and give it the final edge.) _________________ If there is a problem on the forums, PM me. QUICK_EDIT
A job very well done. It's obvious you’ve spent a hell of a lot of time on this map. I agree with Muldrake, it's impossible to say any of these maps are losers. The quality and personal effort, time and inspiration that goes into these maps is incredible.
Well, I'm lucky to have position #6 instead of #8 . It's funny that the exact same thing happened in OMC1, when I became 3rd above two mapping Gods, Wes.com and Dad a Tude, which I think had submitted better maps then I had. But for the next time, be prepared, I'm going to put in 100% effort, and I'm going to test the map properly. (still don't think I'm going to win then )
This is a really nice map, was interesting to play. I'm one for civilian stuff in maps though, and I think it would be been nice to have seen more, to add more variety in the map. (But the map is very well detailed.. especially for such a huge map!)
I do see an attempt at a town, which has had a.. tiberium eruption it looks like in the middle. I think it would have been good to have included some roads though, to give it more of a feel of a town.
Still, very nice, really detailed for an 8 player map. _________________ If there is a problem on the forums, PM me. QUICK_EDIT
I can't wait till the next one, I wish they could have a Christmas special where any entries must be a snow map, I'm just slightly gutted now that I could have done so much better if I've added triggers to my map As soon as I get my collegework out of the way Im going to start producing some more Tiberian Sun Maps.
I'm Looking forward to facing the same competition again next year; aswell as some new competition aswell of course QUICK_EDIT
@Guys: Do you play these maps with any kind of TS Mods? Cause im thinkin of trying them with Ultima Mod but i'd appreciate it if you guys make a suggestion
