AVG=shit. It's autoupdate system is drivin me nuts!

I use ZoneAlarm Security Suite. It has a firewall, antivirus, IM security, anti-spyware and more. It's quite nice. It doesn`t use too many resources, even when scanning the hdd. The bad news: It's not freeware.

I do what D said. Plus, windows 98 sucks but it has a good advantage: the current virus are not made for it... they are made to exploit vulknerabilities from XP, so I'm  currently imune to a lot of virus... but I'll have to update this windows soon, as it misuses my RAM and this is annoying me tremendously...

Considering most Viri and Worms need you to be connected to internet, the probability of that is low.

Just use Microsoft Anti-Spyware. Its one of the best programs out there for Windows XP SP1 and SP2.

It's for spyware, not viruses.

@Anderwin: AVG is good, but it pisses me off with it's frequent auto-updates.

I regret updating to SP2, its the most n00bified windows ive ever seen. It blocks everything by default, even when everything like the firewall is switched off. Sad

Gufu, your really useless to this Topic...anyway, I use Antivir, and Norton...And a few other little items.

BTW Gufu, you can't just kill a virus with a computer, you either need the skill to find the Virus, and kill it, or a program With said skill.
Kthx.

Death to that morron. I don`t even know why I use Windows.........oh yes, for games *too lazy to install Linux........although the HDD is set for it*. Truly SP2 sux. Its firewall block everything, but I turned it off from the registries and now I don`t have any trouble with that shit.

hmm well i have WinXP with SP2 and i turned of the firewall and it dont interfere with anything, the only problem i do have with SP2 is the auto updates, the little box say "you need to restart your compter", its annoying.

You can stop them from the System Properties. Just right click on my computer and then on properties. Head to Automatic Updates and an option.

yea i know that, but some programs "need them" #Tongue to run, its the box that comes up after that have completed, saying that you have to restart, or it does so with no response in 5 minutes

Err, obviously you get viruses and worms from the internet, but viruses and worms stop you connecting or getting on the net and disable network connections, so you are going to be screwed when that happens and you cant connect to a website to do a free virus scan.

You need an AV which stops the virus from even running

Well then it would be obvious I have an infected computer, and i would begin searching for it manually, and if I need help, I'd look up virus symptons on one of my other comps.
