GMAX continues...
This is an old news, but some people might not be exactly aware of what happened to GMAX, since its announcement on AutoDesk site. Few weeks ago, Annie Normandin has posted on TurboSquid forum that GMAX will not be discontinued by the end of this year. There will be a transitional plan and no dates were announced.

"Hi all,
We recently communicated with this community our plan to continue working with TurboSquid to maintain the availability of Gmax as a transitional plan is fully developed. This is still the case.
As stated before, our plans still include a ramp down of support on this version of Gmax – the technology does not reflect the capabilities of the current 3ds max release, nor is it ready in its current form to take advantage of pending changes to the windows operation system that will be exposed with the Vista release.
I would not want to speculate on any timeline or outcome at this point but do know that we have heard your feedback and are working internally and with key partners on a revised transitional plan. You will be the first to know !
Best regards
