Cameos: Rendered or Non-Rendered
We have the Tiberian Sun style of cameos, with an image of the building/unit it's showing on a preset background, and we have the Red Alert Two style of rendered cameos.
Which one is the correct Command and Conquer style?
All the CnC games, up to Generals*, have had cameos of TS style, and most have had rendered cameos.
Tiberian Dawn: rendered and non-rendered, in different versions.
Sole Survivor had no cameos and thus does not matter.
Red Alert One: rendered and non-rendered, but only uses the rendered ones ingame. (lores.mix)
Red Alert Two: rendered, but was supposed to have non-rendered, in the beta. We can see that by both the Allied Construction Yard and Allied Stealth Bomber, which have the TS style non-rendered cameos.
Renegade: non-rendered. I'm not sure if they have rendered cameos, as I haven't looked in the mixes, but it might. Although I doubt it.
Generals: Is neither Tiberian nor Red Alert, and thus does not matter in this poll.
(*Generals is NOT, in any way, shape, or form a CNC game) _________________

Personally, I think this is a load of shit. DOS C&C used non-rendered cameos (BUT with remappable colour, which was really neat), simply because there was no space for rendered ones in the 320x200 resolution. Superweapon icons were rendered even in the DOS version though.
Now, you're either totally unaware of or totally ignoring the fact RA has a DOS version INCLUDED in the game. THAT's why lores.mix is there. It is used, if you run ra.exe instead of ra95.exe
Then they made C&C95, using the Windows style of RA95, blah, blah, same higher res, exactly the same graphical engine, so rendered scenes from the FMV's and additional ones never seen in FMV's, just like RA95. All nice, whatever.
Sole Survivor DOES have cameos. Namely the C&C95 unit cameos, plus added ones for visceroid and dinosaurs
But seriously, I doubt ANYONE ever thought THAT detail made any difference in what is "correct command & conquer style".
I'll smack the ass of anyone trying to call the original DOS C&C "not a true C&C", kthxbye. _________________ QUICK_EDIT
hey, lets get back on topic. I'd say rendered. It always looks better than the TS style non-rendered. Why did they even make non-rendered cameos into TS, if previous games already had rendered cameos? For saving space? I doupt that.... _________________

You should be asking SMIFFGIG that. _________________ Destroy to create. All for the hunt to dominate!

It's all about the futuristic computer style. They want to give you the impression your EVA is rendering the cameos on the spot from 3D models instead of showing photos of them.
And just for Tyler... the SS selection screen:
The color errors (especially visible on the SSM icon) are because the default SS remap is that blue/green colour, and they stupidly apply the remap to the selection screen, where all yellow colors in the icons that HAPPEN to be remap get switched. The icons are simply taken from C&C95, where obviously, the remap is ignored in the game.
