ra:1 vs ra:2 in a graphic competion...

If you say that RA2' gfx are like War2's, then you never player one of these games. War2's gfx isn't 3D at all (no voxels, no 3d maps, only anims; it was a cool game anyhow). QUICK_EDIT

I have to admit that RA2 beats RA. There is more detailed terrain, more terrain objects, things are larger (therefore may look more detailed) and there are various voxel debris pieces and effects that may be used. However, RA2 has those cartoony normals which lower the tone a bit. _________________

Because it is obvious RA2 is better. Voxels, better SHPs, better detail.
It is a matter of taste, and I find RA2 way better, and RA1 I did not find that fun because the Soviets are so damn superior to the Allies in RA1.

Ra2, graphics are superior, its just their capabilities in being edited and the options they offer over RA1 .shps. The color range, the amount of pallettes and not to mention.. voxels. It just the engine could do alot more stuff with graphics.
With RA1...sure I love RA1 for its orginale' then, but when it comes to modding RA2 offers more than the simplicity that makes RA1. _________________ Delirium.. QUICK_EDIT

Hmm...
The thing is that buildings in RA1 are the size of your avatar in dimensions... If not smaller.
They cant show as much detail...

Red Alert had some fantastic ones, especially single-player. MP-wise, there was A Path Beyond, Hamburger Hill, Keep off the Grass, The Hills Have Eyes. All of them are just classics. _________________

the hills have eyes was incredible, I still play on it when I can find someone actually playing RA1. A path beyond is the one map I am unbeatable on, as I've played on it literally hundreds of times and have devised perfect offensive and defensive strategies which can be done from every possible starting point. Okay, so not all good maps were TS maps. Proved me wrong. _________________ This mod is dead!

this (old) topic was about GRAPHICS, not sound or music or gameplay, all of which were better in RA1. Are you saying that RA1 has better GRAPHICS (wrong) or that it has better sounds, music, and gameplay (right, but wrong topic)? _________________ This mod is dead!

RA2 YR FTW!
The Allies actually can fight the Apocalpyse Tank, instead of losing divisions of Prism Tanks to Battalions of Apocalypse Tanks.
RA1's Gameplay was fun, but the Soviets got all the good stuff, like Mammys, Tesla Coils, Sam Sites, and the such... The Allies had 1 really good unit in RA1, the Cruiser.
In RA2, I found it frustrating that Apocalypse Tanks could wipe out my airforce, ground force, and even navy(just think of it, a US Aircraft Carrier getting sunk by a single tank) with little trouble. Sure, you could send Grizzlys en masse at them, but it would be like Sherman Tanks to Tigers. RA2 of course ya' dogs! Ra1 might have a better story and gameplay, but RA2 has better graphics, AND the voxelisation prevents from having to do each facing part of the vehicle. QUICK_EDIT

Yuris is best, the army of Yuri is the greatest concept ever. However it opened up avenues for inbalanced units such as the Battle Fortress. Yuri's army isn't imbalanced though, save for one unit I think needs changing: the Magnetron.
Red Alert 1.. it was good to play but Soviet was far superior to Allies, and gameplay is valued.
Red Alert 2, it was cartoony, I don't like that kind of style but then compare it to when your battling, people are dying, thats more of a kind of dark humour if you ask me.
Red Alert 2 also is more moddable, for those that are unhappy with Red Alert 2. _________________
