[YR mod] A New Dawn
Hi Guys.
After a break from modding YR (and CnC in general), i started working on my YR TC again.
I am trying to make a Tiberian Dawn mod for YR, so alliies and soviets will be replaced with our beloved GDI and Nod (Yuris forces will be removed).
I am NOT aiming to remake TD as close as possible, since some things are simply impossbile with YR or would look stupid, but the basic gameplay should be the same as in TD.
(still thinking bout adding some special game modes with one or two new units)
What has been done so far:
-rules ini coding - most units and building (including ion cannon and nuke missile superweapon) are finisched (cept 2 or 3 infantry units and all aircraft)
-voxel editing - nearly all ground voxel are finished, but i still need some aircraft (anyone knows if there a public avaible sr-71 blackbird?) and fix up harvester and mcv
What needs to done:
-ai editing - needs to be totaly redone, until now i just modded the allied ai to build some GDI tanks
-intfantry shps - atm, i am using allied units for GDI (fits quiete good) and recoloured soviet units for Nod (doesent look very good, i also cant find a good one for flamethrower and chemical warrior)
-cameos - most of the old TD look very plain and colorless in YR pallets
-sidebar - i am still using the YR ones, which doesent fit with GDI/Nod
-buildings - still using old YR buildings and some public assets. Doesent really look like TD, but you get the basic idear what your buildings are for. Having new buildings would be nice, but i dont think anyone would make them :/
-some multiplayer maps
So i am searching for some people who could help me with this, mainly for people who could:
-fix up the old TD cameos
-make a new sidebar
-make a new AI
Having some new building and maps would also be nice, but thats would requiere alot of time so i am not planning to do this :/

The harv's colored piece (remap?) should be much bigger.
And why fix up the icons? Aren't they good enough? Just use the TD palette as the cameo one and use em straight away.

I will remake the harvester, as it didnt came out as i wanted it to be :/
btw, i like most TD icons, but i am thinking about replacing some (mammoth, ion cannon are quiete ugly) with new cameos based on TD render/pictures

Maybe later, when aircrafts heve been added (so there could be a playable beta)
With some help from carniwhore, i managed to make an own model for the GDI guard tower. Still WiP, but its definitly better than using the old AR2 pillbox for it
Heres a WiP for the power plant.
Model was orginally made by my friend Rock'n'Goth Alien and modified by me, still need to modify some textures and add details...

I will definitly change some textures, but i dont think i will add some pipes - i used a picture from TD as reference and there were no additional pipes, so i wont add any
(but i may remake the existing ones, they got a bit coruppted)
And don't forget AA on the final version.
Right now it looks pretty faithful to the original, but the shadow down the big grey thing is quite a bit too hard. _________________
OMG...i was so occupied this week i actually forgot to work on those cameos...i'm deeply sorry, i'll try working on them as much as i can this weekend. QUICK_EDIT

I am not sure if i will use AA. When ever i use AA with Flybys script, building gets an ungly blue area around them.
Havent found an easy way to prevent or remove these "wrong" pixel until now :/
Not sure how to change the shadows, i am still learning how to use 3ds max

you dont need to work on them, i tried Nyerguds advice an those cameos work great ingame.I still need to find the basic images for the new cameos again, i guess i lost them in a hard drive crash some weeks ago

I am trying to make the building scale a bit more realistic than in TD/RA2, but the foundation sizes in RA2 are limited (so they should not be to big )
At the moment i am working on basic models for AGT, Obelisk and gun turret (and searching trought some stuff RnR Alien send me today) QUICK_EDIT

Ah, right ok. Nice work on the mod so far, i like the way this is looking
But, the light tank looks a bit too long, and the barrel a bit too short. Just a thought _________________
