When did you start modding? And why?
When? I guess it started in 6th grade, about 4 years ago. I started on Tiberian Sun, after discovering Tiberiumsun.com's mods download section on a page, not the forum. I then progressively became able to do lots in TS, then I got RA2 from a friend. After playing this, and having noticed that XCC Mixer had a section to do RA2 stuff, I moved on to mod it.
Why? Honestly, I don't know. I think that the ability to learn more, become better than others (which has yet to happen, I think), and impress my friends has been a solid fuel to my modding career (that is what it is considered). I think that my life would be way different than it is now...I wouldn't even be the same person. Wouldn't be here, wouldn't be doing the YR: TS mod, and would have never taught my brother. Its amazing...

When: In late 2003, when I was browsing for a patch for FS (since the auto-updater wasn't working right), I came across this site, which has a bunch of mods on it, and I figured, "Hey, why not?"
Why: Once I figured out how the whole modding thing worked (about 2 months later), I decided that TS, FS, RA2, and YR, being such old and (then) forgotten games, needed improvement to draw me away from EA's "games", so I decided that modding was the best way to go, whether it was legal or not. A little while later, I decided to start modding Generals and ZH, too, since they left something to be desired, and I wasn't sure at the time what it was until I started modding it, then my once dull experience with Generals and ZH has been de-dullified (I made up a new word!).
I got real serious about modding during the Christmas season of 2004, when I was allowed to use my uncle's DSL, if only for a short time, I stumbled across TumSun's mod download page, and I went nuts (the good, happy, euphoric nuts). It had a link to here, PPM, and I was ecstatic to find such active modding communities around. About 9 months later, I joined TumSun's forums, as well as these forums, and I've been expanding my knowledge more and more. Eventually, I'll gather up the patience to make voxels, SHPs, and maps, and put all my modding knowledge to the test by making my own mod, but that's another story. Next! _________________

I started in mid-2000 searching for... err.... cheats , but once I've found out I could add units and make my own factions, I said bye bye to cheats and got modding... The first forum that I posted were the SE2k Editing Forums. I've joined PPM once it was founded, about 5 months later. WHY:I was just playing TS when I searched glitches or something like that, then I came upon mods, and thought What the heck is this all about.
I started playing them and thought how great it would be to make my own with new selfmade stuff.
And thus I found PPM and so I started and learned much the past year. not only ini coding. But also 3D modeling/voxel editing/map making and lots more. And the rest is history _________________

When: Early 2000
Why: I was looking for new TS maps, and stumbled across a site called Tiberium-MW (which has sadly gone). In time, I ended up as a map maker for the site and started dabbling in coding with SunEdit 2K, making a mod which enabled the Core Defender and Jellyfish for Nod (what can I say, I've always loved Nod). I ended up moving to the RA2 engine and making a mod called Savage War (September 2001, the founding date of both the site and mod). I moved back to the TS engine in late 2003 when Rattuskid and I started playing it online. I decided to make a mod that would improve playability and make it more fun, thus Clazzy's Rules was born.
Finally, I moved onto the greater challenge of making a total conversion, which I'm sure you know as Novus Ordo. Of course, I still have many more ideas up my sleeve for my next project. To be honest, I never would have thought I would be in the community for almost six years!
Well, that's my life story. _________________

Why : A friend told me about a mod he had been playing for TS (this friend has no idea how to mod thou) so after i got the mod I decided to look threw the things i downloaded for it (rules.ini ect) before i even found modding forums like ppm I worked out how to do basic editing in rule.ini on my own and then started work on my mod, got lazy and did alot of other stuff then started my mod back up again around a month ago (and ill be 15 by march the 9th for thous that give a care) _________________

When?
i must have started modding about 4/5 years ago.. I played with RA1 for a while, playing some small mods. but about mid 2002, i was looking for a cheat for Tiberian Sun for instant money, and i found this site that had SE2k for download and used that for a while. i found a program called yami? (i think thats it) a bit before that and was trying to make maps then but with no success , i joined ppm back last year and my modding life suddenly changed when i found out what else you could do other than change a units armor
Why?
i love CnC too much, its a part of my life.... even my bike has a CnC logo on it , i was very curius about how the game worked.. so i started investigating. QUICK_EDIT

WHEN:
Originally started around '97, having fun making some custom units with RA1's rules.ini.
Of course I had been messing with C&C1 editing programs ever since '96, but that was purely for cheating and for fun. Ever tried giving a technician the Napalm weapon? It's SO much fun
I didn't start doing any graphical modding until around 2000, when I was frantically searching the web for remains of C&C1 sites looking for C&C1 files, and came across a huge load of RA1 mods and a couple of (very rare) C&C1 modifications.
I got the last version of Mix Manager and started with converting some RA mod units to C&C1.
Finally, I found the C&C Star Wars mod-pack (which I now usually refer to as the Genesis Pack), which was the biggest real C&C1 mod ever made (anyone mention that Morning Tea crap, and you're DEAD, hear me? ).
WHY:
It's odd really... the only reason I started working on the Star Wars mod was that it bothered me that the Sandcrawler changed back into a normal harvester when unloading. Now look where it got me
Though the general reason is that I wanted to know absolutely everything about TD, and changing gfx & sounds is fun.
I used to follow some TS mod that changed the game to TD on the old Federation Studios (RIP ) forum, but sadly the mod died and shortly after, so did FedNet. I did get a very nice file from Zoop there that helped me along with my Star Wars mod ^_^ _________________ QUICK_EDIT
when
decenber 5th 1998 brosing for RA1 walk thoughs on public collage internet when i came across the modding site and found ways i could edit the game and form then on i was hooked (mind you i used a lot of floopy disks untill i could afford dailup in yr 2000) "however ive never released a sucessfull mod to the public mainy becase there full of bugs and no one will help me create it"
[b]why[\b]
to change the game to my likings plus to make units to play around with that kick ass _________________ Link to a document to see what mods i have and/or working on or working with

last year, and if I'm correct, I was looking for pics and other stuff for Tiberian Sun throught Google, and found myself in Tumsun homepage. From there, I found PPM, and heard much of Tiberian Sun: Retro, and downloaded it. Later, I got amazed about SMIFFGIG's Tiberian aknowledge. Anyway, the mod inspired me to edit the rules.ini, and art.ini (first of course I studied what they were), and later to do voxels. Now I'm making my own mod, but unfortunately, I, or DonutArnold haven't got much to do in past two months...
Why?
hmm...I'm not sure, maybe Retro somehow made me to want to do my own units and buildings, and I must admit that I put my goals a bit too high first _________________
I started modding when I was about 14 or so, (This now makes me 16).
Why?
I got fed up of RA2 with the players simply massing Rhinos and such so I decided to try to make up a storyline which would stay true to the RA universe while offering new balance issues. Basically it turned out as "Yuri's Revenge: Lost Imperium", in where the focus was Yuri's Resistance fighting against the world. However I gave up on it after a while, but the experience making a Gattling Battleship which housed a Chaos Fighter was pretty good and gave me the gist of things
After this I was watching Stargate one day, and thought "Hey, wouldn't it be great to do Stargate in the RA2 engine?" so then the Stargate SG-1 mod was born. A couple of secret stuff was created, such as a really great Death Glider which took me around 2 months to do, as well as us getting a few SG-1 marines. In short it was going very well, concept art was done also by me which looked and kept the feel of Stargate. Sadly enough for this, my PC decided to die, and I had coursework problems as well as social problems so I decided to not do any progress on the mod. Eventually it was put into a coma by me if you check the forums.
Afterwards I was playing a really cool game called "Master of Magic". It looked so rich, even for an old game it inspired me to do some small bits for a fantasy mod "Rise of Bael". Basically this was a really fast paced game which relied on spells which could be cast using superweapon logic. The sides initally planned was Merlin, the Empire, and Bael's Legion. Bael is a master of fire magic and demons, the Empire drafts anything and anybody and are decendants of the Roman Empire, and Merlin uses Druids, Unicorns, nature spells. Really diverse. I may still yet do this mod Those who may have seen 'It is now fashion to have secret projects' in the news you can see a WIP of the Empire Swordsman.
But the mod I am working solidly on is now the X-Com Mod. I've written enough in that forum and this post enough now so you can just look there and find out! I also work for Robot Storm. _________________
