Does anybody know how you add new colors to play as in skirmish on YR without erasing the old ones. Specifically black, white, and maybe gray. QUICK_EDIT

I cant seem to figure out how you use NPatch. Ihave no clue how but i havent tried ares although i did download it. ill triy that but i cant make any promises ill get it QUICK_EDIT
I've done that but when i go to extract the files to yr then it says i need like 20 passwords then says yhere was an error please try again later. and i have to startover. now do you understand my FRUSTRATION. and download the Standalone version of Ares. Extract it into your Westwood\RA2 folder. It may have already contained a .bat file to run ares. If not you'll have to create one. It also should have a Documentation folder which is where the Manual for Ares is located. _________________

yeah, I dont know what is going on with those earlier posts. The message is actually there according to the edit function. If I click edit button, it shows everything I wrote, but when i hit submit it comes out blank _________________

Ok Here is wat i do to start ares: I go to my computer. i search ares_0.1_p1 under documents. it brings up aqn ares zipper. i click that and it shows: documentaion folder, ares.dll, ares.dll.inj, ares, license_ares, license_syringe, readme, runares, and syringe. i click run ares and it says Extract all ? i click yes it says what files. iclick yes to all. it loads all the files and shows them. which are the same ones as previously stated. and most others say they need to find a file off the web which all need you to registery for spyware and pay a fee and other crap which i dont want. and about the passwords: i try to extract the files directly to the disc and then a ton of passwords appear. There are many so i'll sya the first two, "File 'license_syringe' is password protected. Please enter the password in the box below." then u can enter it and hit ok or skip this file or cancel if u skip then it says ""File 'license_ares' is password protected. Please enter the password in the box below." with the same options and if u skip then it says the same but with 'runares' and again with 'documentation' then 21 others i did count. and then it says success but then i check the file the game doesnt have them there now you know ok plz stop criticizing me and everything yawn now im tired any one who understands my ramblings. plz help me im about to go insane if im not already there . finally dont get snobby IM ONLY 14 YEARS OLD AND I JUST STARTED ALL THIS MOD BUISNESS ABOUT OH ILL SAY ONE MONTH AGO OKAY. OKAY now that i have vented a little i want to know how do u start an account on red alert 2. my uncle has one but the game tries to log onto westwood.com which was bought out by EA and there fore doesnt exist. how do you force log on to EA on RED ALERT 2 so i can make an account and play online with my uncle and other people. HELP PLZ QUICK_EDIT
Put Syringe and all the Ares related files into your YR folder. Then double click on RunAres.bat.
When the main loading screen comes up, it should say that Ares is active and give you some quick copyright info. QUICK_EDIT
I dont understand one bit about why ares is asking for passwords. Ares dosent require any passwords. Period! There's no reason why you cant just extract the contents directly into your RA2 folder. You said you tried to extract it to your disc? you dont extract it to your disc, again it goes into your westwood/ra2 folder which should be located at C:\Westwood\RA2
Also you dont create an online account anymore, and havent needed to do so for years. Just type a name and password in and as long as its not taken it should work just fine.
It almost sounds like your running an illegal copy of RA2, YR. Just a side note, Ares will only work with YR ver 1.006, and illegal copies are hard to update to ver 1.006 _________________

ok so i have to extract the files to the folder in the C: place. and now they are there now what. and i do have the 1.001 patch for yr. i got it a while back and its not illeagal copy. its store bought. Well if you finally extracted them into your directory, Look for the RunAres.bat file. This is what you will be using to start YR from now on if you use Ares. Keep in mind that Ares features Do Not activate themselves. You will need to read the documentation on how and where to add stuff to your inis. Good luck and have fun _________________

Just like how the map enables the player to build a naval yard, it requires a map to contain any body of water to build it there.
I want to make a SOLAR PANEL POWER PLANT THINGY that can only be built on a temperate morning map since there's a map set in midnight, there will be an alternative source of energy let say an ordinary allied power plant that can only be built on a map set in midnight time

Okay with yuri's Revenge use XCC Mixer to open multimd.mix. Then Extract every single Map File. Then open each map with

Example:

TechLevel=11
Is added to your maps which are not set in Twilight theme.
Then in rules you define your [newtechbuilding] however you want with a buildable techlevel. This will make it so it's only buildable on map with a twilight theme.
You can also make certain buildings unbuildable using negative techlevels on the maps with the twilight theme.

Ah! Now i get it! The techlevels depends on the map's settings itselft right? Which means if i want to use the official maps on my mod, i should edit them one by one!
Yeah, that's a lot of job to do so I'll just make my own maps instead.

Yup you gotta edit all maps to do special things, some things can be done with modes though. Making your own maps might be harder though.
Well making a twilight maps is a matter of setting the right light settings in FA2 and adding proper lighting in map with invisible light posts "to many will cause lag".

Got another problem here, how can i make a expand mix that the game will use? Also how can i make it work for the game? Does the game loads them automatically?
I was trying to make a new country and adding new files to the game without modifying the original mixes and some modders make their very own expand mixes that contains their files
I made a blank and fresh new mix file using XCC Mixer.

I'd like to request a quick tutorial how to make a new unit. Like from a scratch. Starting with making model, graphics, animations and ending with coding. As a total noob (as any new user would be), I've been searching in this forum, found some stuff, but it only makes my head ache, for it's scattered around all over the place. Would be very useful if someone could make such tutorial. Tutorial should give a list and download links of all the tools and programs needed, as well as links to tutorials and other info needed to learn how to use those tools and programs.
but maybe i am wrong, maybe its ok as it is and I already got everything without needing such tutorial?

A tutorial for resizing both voxel units and shp units and buildings would be nice. Also if someone who is familiar with music in TS who could make one that goes into more detail as for how to add music in certain events (win/loose) and for different menus and so on. They do indeed work, but the reduced size of the normals palette does effect some things - TS supports 0, 45, 90, 135, 180, 225, 270, and 315 degree angles while the RA2 palette supports significantly more. So the Mastermind's done or the Kirov might look a lot more angular with TS normals than with RA2 ones for instance. On the other hand, sharp angles are easier to achieve in the TS normals palette.

goto MyComputer->Local Disk C->Program Files->XCC->Utilities
You should find what you extract there. I'm pretty sure this is the default setting. _________________
