The SHP Life Engine is a program designed to fake RA2 (ATM not TS since it uses a different scale). Its currently in the early days but it shows that it may be able to save modders time, allowing them to preview SHP's and get a general feel about it without having to go into the game.

Yes the mod announcement i made was a Hoax to see if SHP Life could make ppl believe it was RA2.

Looks good, but shadows need fixing and the buildings are blurred. Hmm, actualy the whole 'ingame' thing seems blurred...

Thats called MipMapping. Without mipmapping for some reason u get extreme lag.

2 Clone Vats + 1 Radar without MipMapping = 15FPS
Same With MipMapping = 60FPS

And my PC ain't shit. Geforce 5900 XT

Attached is a comparison of the 'Quality' between mipmapped and non.

User can select to use mipmaps or not and shadows are now semi transparent.

Note: "Its currently in the early days" means that the program release date is unknown. And it means that the project hasn't been going for that long. This thread is just announcing that the project exists.

The SHP is loaded, then its converted to a OGL texture. ATM it needs the shadows to be merged. Tho in the future it will have the shadows as a seperate frame and draw that b4 the buildings.

On a plus note: switiching to GL_NEAREST insted of GL_LINEAR_MIPMAP_LINEAR makes the image basicaly the same as the non mipmaps.

Oh my, that is fantastic! I always dreamt of something like this, a sort of mini-engine, a sort of proving ground to test our newly spawned ideas.... that tells us modders what is wrong with our rules.ini instead of dumping am undechiperable expect.txt

I know its quite in its infant stages,

but with the technology of peace.... Wink

Corce u can change the bmp. U could have it as a porn image if u rearly wanted to.

21 again, 21 again.... well for the first time. So now i can legaly Drink in America! (Been able to drink in the uk since i was 18... not that ill ever goto America)

A Little Background on SL Engine:

originaly the idea was to create a Easter Egg to place in SHP Builder, unlocking say units fighting in a scene. Tho MadHQ's thoughts on what the image i posted on the SHP Builder forum was changed the project to his idea. (So he was wrong at the time, tho its all down to him that the idea cought on)

Stu has released a beta version and that's all. He has recently sent me the source. At the moment, I have no plans to continue, but I might incorporate a bit of it in the new OS 3D engine.
