C&C 3: More details, from our friend APOC.
Subject description: Our spies are working hard to get every single detail for you!
The horde is flooding the new Official C&C 3 forum with a lot of ideas and spam. That gives us an oportunity to watch out for the replies from APOC regarding several issues being discussed there.
It was quite obvious, since Frank is working on Petroglyph.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"There are zero differences equaling anything less than passion and respect for each other between Petro and our development team at EA. We're making RTS games for similar communities, both with ties to both of our development teams, there is nothing there other than fan-created friction.
Our team has great respect for them and I look forward to seeing their next project.
On the subject of Frank Klapecki, it is great to see the fans lore for the return of some of his music to C&C 3, and as a fan myself, i'm not opposed to that at all. If Frank was not employed officially with another publisher, than it would be easier, but I think its safe to say, there is a business line drawn there, and its really a matter of respecting that, not any kind of differences or friction (which don't exist :o)
So, I wouldn't be opposed, and its not a crazy idea, but at this point, we're still very early, and we have one of the best audio teams in the industry, award winning and have really set a benchmark along with our competitors in audio excellence. I'm overly confident in their ability to deliver an amazing C&C 3 audio experience.
I'll bring this idea to the table, purely because I am a hardcore fan and being on this side of the line, I have the ability to present crazy ideas :o) I will not have feedback for a while. I would focus on other topics for now, we got plenty of time to talk audio! "
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For those who are scared with the new GDI logo seen in the Orca Gunship picture from PC Gamer, cool down. They might have improved the logo, but not changed yet, according to APOC.
Other than that, sidebar is something that is still being discussed by the C&C 3 development team and their main focus on the E³ will be the XBox 360 version of Battle For Middle Earth. I'm not really sure if any C&C 3 info will be displayed there, but that doesn't mean that it won't. Here's APOC's word on this subject:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"We will be at E3 with more than just an amazing kick *** incredible 360 trailer. We're working on a full blown out 1st official trailer for the game, and we will be having a special presentation at E3 which I expect you'll be hearing the press talk about quite a bit during the show.
If you're going, i'm the short 5" 5 guy riding around the E3 floor on a scooter (wink)
Of course that everything said above can be changed, since the game is still being developped. And, as soon as we get more news, we'll be posting here! Check it out! QUICK_EDIT
NOO!!! FRANK KLEPACKI!!! THEY MUST HIRE FRANK!!! NOOOOOO!!!! GENERALS 2 LOOMS AHEAD!!!
Hey I like the tunes on Generals. The GLA music was perfect for the mood of the battle, The American music was perfect in the backround while you were sending a commando team in to anililate the enemy base. And the China music was very loyal to its heretige. I said it once and I'll say it again. If you don't stop bitching about stuff that EA has no control over you'll never see this game. QUICK_EDIT
Well what can EA do? Frank belongs to Petro now. Some of you have got to see the logic without swarming and saying "OMG FRANK IS NOT DOINg IT?!" like some of you have . _________________
Nothing Apoc has said confirms that Frank won't be doing the music, we shouldn't get our hopes up though.

This is CAPITALISM. The goal is dollars. _________________ PPM's Reichstrollfuherer, 236th Trollenparties brigade. QUICK_EDIT
No it's called Karma. EA thought they had a better team than him, so they fired him. Everyone needs a job so Frank found open arms in another studio. Now EA is going to suffer because they got rid of one of the finest points in the CnC universe. But as all industries go EA will eventually buy him from Petroglyph and we will have our fovorite music guru back.
Disclaimer: This might not actually happen QUICK_EDIT
I don't really care who makes the soundtrack, it just has to fit into the game.
the TS soundtrack was kinda boring except a few tracks, the RA2 and YR soundtrack would be too happy for it.
they should try to find a style between those two.
What they mustn't do is use the Generals music style. it was fine, but it wouldn't fit into a sci-fi universe.

Ya they need to make it really depressing and scary. I mean this is like a decade later than TS so the Tiberium will be way out of control and more Tiberium Mutations will be roaming the land. This game needs to make you understand that your not safe anywhere and you could die at any second. QUICK_EDIT
Generals music was ok but i hate it how there was no music player like the rest of the cnc games and the songs have no names so it makes them generic and lame I say get the music player back if we can't have frank. I quite enjoy selecting what music to play while im playing _________________ -------------------------------------------------------
Ya my favorite thing to do in RA2 as to play HM2 as I was launching my final strike. Works really well on navel maps when you can drop APCs full of Apocs on their front door. QUICK_EDIT
Frank metions that he never denied him working on C&C3 music, which might imply that he would do it in the future if asked.... but this comment from APOC problibly means no QUICK_EDIT
I just finished the GDI campaign in TS, and I decided to read through the credits. There was a guy next to Frank in the credits named Jerald Mendleson. It says he helped with the music. Do you know if he contributed enough in earlier soundtracks to actually help EA from screwing up? I mean seeing as Frank might not be able to do it perhaps this guy could keep the sounds true to their roots. QUICK_EDIT

..
RTS.. For XBox 360..
What sounds *completely* wrong with that statement? _________________

good idea, I liked his co-writed/fully made tracks too. _________________

I think he means that the trailer will be put up on screens that surround you, ie you can see the battle field from all around you (360 degrees) _________________
Alright idiots, if you think Karma and all this other crap is what fuels a industry? Your dead wrong, Money. Pure money is the only thing that fuels a industry, and consumer confidence. _________________ ... QUICK_EDIT

I loved "Heroism" and "Mad Rap".
TS soundtrack was boring because Frank was asked to make it more ambient and background.
I think Firestorm soundtrack style would fit, especially tracks like Killing Machine, Link Up, Slave to the system and Rain in the night 2.
But my bets are Frank won't do the soundtrack anyway. I only hope Bill Brown won't do either. I vote for Jarrid Mendelson. Some tracks he made for TS (Heroism, Lone Trooper, Scouting) were very good. QUICK_EDIT

I must admit, getting Jarrid Mendelson would be very good. Off the top of my head, he did Pharotek, Flurry and Mutants. Of course, you can't forget some of the classic Ordos songs (Failure is not an Option and A Plan of Attack to name just a couple). _________________

I actually had the idea before you guys, i even posted in the original topic at the EA forums!
Anyways, Jarrid's busy with his music band or so i've heard and won't be able to do music for C&C3. And it's not Bill Brown who's gonna make the music for C&C3, it'll be EA's audio team. (they're pretty good though, so expect some quite phenomenal orchestral ambient tracks for C&C3!) QUICK_EDIT
