The "Reality Shock" blog...
Hello...I am starting a blog on all the big subjects in the real world that need attention. As if i'm trying to open people's minds to reality and tell them the truth.
Here's my first entry. If you have my MSN Messenger email, you can check my MSN space, i'll update there...
Also, big thanks to Judeau for having contributed in a few ideas...Thanks, man!
..So...got any comments, opinions, questions...errr...death threats?
This is hardly a "Reality Shock". I want my refund!
I agree for the most part. Humans only created gods or a higher power as a quick answer to things in which we did not understand at the time. The only reason why they are still around is for comfort. And profit.
All religions basically teach the same foundamental thing: treat each other as equals. We don't need religion to tell us this as it is common sense. Well.. should be, anyway.
On that note, religion should really butt out of the government/law in any country. We don't need a bunch of senile, consverative old men, who are still clinging onto century old laws, telling us what we can or cannot do. Do we really need a Pope to tell us it's immoral to scratch our collective asses? Bugger off!

Alex, forums are a bit like fishing, you get bites you don't, you have to live with it. And yes people don't like to respond to threads about religion. _________________
You know, you're point is completely wrong. I can prove that christianity is wrong in its root too, (I'm jewish) but I won't do it here, cuz its just a wrong place. Well, at least if you won't make me do it.
And religion is good at least because it unites lots of people. As a jew I'm very thankful to those strange coincidence of events that made me and our people still alive, 2000 years after destruction of our homeland. We call this coincidence - G-d. Religion joined us and we survived.
So - religion is vital. Don't speak for it if you don't know it really. _________________ in 2009 to Florence. Viva Italia! QUICK_EDIT
Jah, you're telling me you believe religion because it allows you to live your life? That's your opinion, although I don't need to believe in God or Jesus (Although Jesus most likely existed, most of the rest is just false...)
to be able to live. They need an easy answer so they can concentrate on living their life without any loneliness, because God is an imaginary friend that alot of people believe in, making it unite people under a same opinion, and convincing people they are not alone in the world. Yes, without religion, there can be wars everywhere, although wars are supported by religion sometimes (not always, of course!).
Basically, we should try finding an answer and work more on science than controlling other people with politics and religion and to make a really big sum of money to have alot in life. Why bother living life just for fun entertainment (IE playing games, sports, TV, music)? I believe that's not a reason to live, and yeah, removing religion will make people realize this, and...bad stuff happens, but we need to find answers. We need Science. That's not a REAL reason to live I think. I believe religion gives people a reason to continue surviving, to evolve, although in the end, religion and science will most likely clash. And religion will fall in the end, since Science can be easily proved after something scientific is discovered and analyzed. Anyways, if I could lock this, I'd do it now. But I can't unfortunately...this calls for help from Muldrake or Banshee, although I believe it shouldn't be deleted and thrown in the crap forum at all, just *LOCKED*. QUICK_EDIT
In my opinion, religion will not only exist, but be necessary for many people, until science is truly understood. As it is, there are many, many thing science still can not explain, and there are as many things that you need to be a specialist to understand. So, until people know there will always be religion. _________________
How do we make them know? Let us spread it, but if we do, won't religion try to stop us? Calling us a sect?
You have no idea what pit you are slowly digging yourself into Alex. By spreading anti religious messages you attract bad attention to yourself and further sink your reputation (which is already dim) in this forum, as well as other ramifications. You ask to lock topics, but only because they pressure you.
And you fail to accept the good points of religion also.
Alex, most of your topics in the Off Topic Discussion areas are crap material as you do not know how to properly manage your threads/see the logic behind them. _________________

WHAT good points? It helps me in nothing, to be honest. For me, I see no good points with religion.
Carno...
LOLLERCAUST!
That pic isn't showin' up, buddy! Alright, CLOSE THIS before Carno posts up other stuff and risks getting banned... Last edited by Alex06 on Tue Jul 11, 2006 10:18 pm; edited 2 times in total QUICK_EDIT
You can't "make" people know, its a very slow progression. Children today know more than adults a thousand years ago, and I believe this will continue until adults know all that is necessary, and eventually children will as well. At that point, religion will have served its purpose, and we, as a species, will no longer have need for it.
I expect it will occur sometime between 35xx and 45xx, barring outside influences (Extraterrestrial contact). _________________

Religion also instills basic laws and ethical issues which have been used for years. Plus a load of other stuff but I'm too tired to write about now. _________________

I've learnt that arguing about religion on a philosophical level fails miserably. If you are going to argue, do it so you can back up evidence and don't just have a go at religion in general. _________________

Regardless of your personal beliefs on the "truth" behind any religion, if you have any knowledge of history whatsoever you should realize the importance it has played in the buildup of everything that creates the world you live in today. If thousands of years ago, religion was abolished and replaced with science you wouln't be here. And if that is not enough of a "good point" in religion than I have wasted my time. You say its common sense to treat others as equals? Well then it very much should be common sense to treat others and their beliefs with respect.
So next time you go posting on religious beliefs, which won't be on these forums, either a.) back your shit up while still being respectful or b.) don't open your mouth. QUICK_EDIT

Before doing a final lock at this topic, I'll make some things clear:
1) This kind of topic isn't really appreciated here.
2) The kind of reply seen from Carnotaurus is not appreciated either. Too n00bish, to be honest.
3) Religion was created to stop chaos in civilizations. The main role from religion 2000 years ago is now the role of the justice of your place. To make people follow their rules and explain what science couldn't explain in their time, religion envolved into phylosophy, metaphors of lessons to be followed and faith on the answers to the unexplainable problems. The natural tendency of information getting distorted during its spread and time, distorted its original purposes and concepts, making it (in the worse cases) turn into a war machine, faith industry and even to terrorism.
Religion is a way of life. A way to get people getting along with each other. Worse than lack of religion is chaos. If you see what is happening in Iraq and what happend in New Orleans (when Katrina devastated that city), you'll understand the danger of chaos. The presence of a State, Justice, religion or a combination of them are the main weapons against it.
Of course, everyone is entitled to believe on what they want and no one is obligated to agree with them or humiliate them for their thoughts.
