.Rars can be opened by winrar, google it
basic instruction :
1. download chat client.rar
2. run the exe
a if the exe gives an error, run the batch files accompanying it, if they ask you to overwrite, say no
3. fill in a nickname*preferably your ppm nickname*
4. Connect !
5. if you like it, tell your friends*so i can actually test it thoroughly*
of course
Also, people, i am no leet haxx0r , not wanting to ruin people or anything, i've put in quite a bit of work into this, at least give it a try, post here when you plan to do so, seeing as my comp serves as the server, it's nice to have the proggie running before you try it _________________ Micro TS

Does it work with NAT, Judeau. As I previously told you, I am also working on a test chat program to expand it to higher purposes. However, my internet access is done through NAT (Network Address Translator).
This is giving me a hell of a headache. My problem is simple:
- My NAT only allows me to send messages to WAN if the remote port is set to 80. And the only port that fowards stuff to my computer is 6112 (to host Warcraft III games). I could do a cheap solution of making port 80 to foward to my computer, but my dad would become bloody pissed off at me (for a good reason, since his internet would get screwed up). So, in my case, I would need some kind of proxy server to receive my stuff on its port 80 and send me back to my port 6112. I'm still looking for a better solution.
Do you have any idea to sort this problem? QUICK_EDIT
and yes my proggie does work behind routers*which indeed have NAT*
hmmm, i'm afraid i am just using winsocks, perhaps you could try that as well, because i'm fairly sure it is also to be found as a .dll
but perhaps i can do some research for you into other means _________________ Micro TS

I'm seriously thinking about changing the components I'm using, to the ones from Sockets.pas. Although the winsockets.dll seems to be quite attractive... maybe it's the same thing... Anyway, I also tried an Indy component and the result was worse, because it had a blocking send function, so the client crashed.
My network teacher told me it could be some configuration problems on my router, although it's weird that addresses like http://www.cnc-source.com:2082/ (just a sample where you access cnc-source through port 2082, getting into cPanel) works fine on my Firefox and IE.
I'm also suspecting that if I use HTTP protocol like Stu does with UPHPS Updater, it would work better... QUICK_EDIT
really can't help you there
i'm just dabbing into this field, and i'm just using what i leanred from tutorials, and adapt it heavily for my own wishes _________________ Micro TS
