The answer is always a multiple of 9.

How does it "know" which one to choose though?

EDIT: As the answer will always be a multiple of nine all the symbols for the multiples of nine are all the same. But they are different everytime you load the page.

Then you did it wrong as if you do it right it will always show the right symbol.

It works because the answer is always a mulitple of nine. If you look at the symbols you will notice that every ninth symbol is the same and the symbol that every ninth digit uses changes each time so it is always right, and it is always different which gives the impression it is guessing your symbol correctly.
