Runs slow in Multiplayer or Skirmish? Because the former is probably a hardware issue with a poor connection. The later could either be hardware or software.

If you're on a really old system, you could in theory have an inadequate machine to play the game, but anything over a 500mhz pentium 2 with ~64 ram should be able to play it fine. XP has been known to cause issues when trying to play the game, but windows98 compatibility option can help with that.

Assuming it's not your hardware limiting you, the game does sadly naturally slow down over time mostl because of stray animations or lingering undefined animations... and of course the builtup of objects.

Sometimes the cd playing software can cause a slowdown, so it's a wise idea to copy the YR theme so the game can read it right of your HD and not from the disk.

You can find instructions for that here...

Other than that, don't play too many AIs and don't leave too many loose resourses in the game directory. Not much help, but little code fixes can't completely change your rig and all.

ok lets make things up.

My Computer spec.

Intel pentium 4 3.20 ghz with HT
1GB DDR RAM
ATI Radeon X600 PCI Express 64 + 64 from internal memory.

so i think its not the hardware

and i play TFD without a cd so thats not the prob.

i have 1 expand mix, 1 ecache and 1 rules,art and sound.ini.

I plays against 1 brutal ai so that shouldnt be the prob either.

and i dont have so serious problem but i is annoying. And i will use it in a mod 2 becouse as far as i know no one uses gamespeed 1 so thats another reason that i want to speed it up.

ive fixed it!!!. sorry for the bump but it may be good for some peoples with the same problem to know how to solve it.

this is for them with p4 processors that has Hyper Threading Tecnology.

if your RA2/YR Runs slooooooooow try to disable Hyper Threading on your processor, i did it in the BIOS settings and it may run faster, it did for me.

Q. how do i accses the BIOS settings?
A. often its just to press any of the F-keys (F1-F12). if not?
then read the instructions book or contact your provider!!

Q. How do i disable Hyper Threading on my processor?
A. It should be somewhere in the bios settings or if you dont have any program that came with the processor.

hope it will help, btw please move this post if placed in wrong forum.
