Anyone know the cause of this?
I can't run Yuri's anymore. It takes a good 20 minutes to get to the main menu. This is with RP 1.08 installed. Yuri's does this exact same thing without RP.
System Specs:
Thermaltake Xaser III Chasis
ASUS A8V Deluxe Motherboard
AMD 4000+
1GB OCZ Dual Channel DDR RAM (512x2)
ATI Radeon X700 Pro AGP8X
500 GB HD Capacity
Windows XP Proffesional Service Pack 2
It has nothing to do with the number of processes. The game worked before, and then about 2 monthsago, it started having loading lag. 20 mins to get to the main menu, and infinity to start a game.

Do you have more than one CD-Rom drive? If you do, try putting the Red Alert 2 disk in one, and Yuri's Revenge in the other. It should fix the load time. Or you can get the patch for it. I think it's Yuri's Revenge Patch Version 1.001. I don't know if these will fix it for sure, I just read it somewhere. Hope it helps. QUICK_EDIT
try cleaning the programs you don't need to use with your task manager. Your computer seems to run a lot of processes.
Well that shouldn't be the problem, I have the same amount of RAM and my processes are round 50 too and I never have problems.
But I don't know about the other specs of your computer.
Only thing different at mine is that gamemd.exe never takes up 99% cpu usage, mostly around 70%.
But that again can be system specs too. _________________ QUICK_EDIT

I got a problem myself here. I wanted some Mental Omega 1.2 action on the old computer, since 2.0 needs RP1.08 and RP1.08 won't run on Win98, but when I clicked "Activate the mod", it said "Out of Memory", and didn't run. I had 346 MB of free HD space, so I dunno how it didn't have enough memory. Anyway, I wanted to play vanilla YR, since MO wasn't wanting to run and I had removed it. But when I started up YR, I got the MO loading screen, and every voice and sound effect ingame had been muted! I uninstalled YR and reinstalled it, checking my registry for anything missing/invalid/leftover, repatched YR, and I STILL get this crap! _________________

just 49 processes... that definately shouldnt be a problem.
when your CPU reaches 100% on a sing;e program, that means your giving too much orders, and it cant respond to all of them. _________________ Please, read the signature rules of the forum. QUICK_EDIT

That's definately bullshit, because I can play Prey and Half-Life 2 at FULL FPS running all of these processes. My CPU cand definately respond. _________________ QUICK_EDIT
well i had a similar problem with an p4 processor and fixed it, heres a tut on it http://www.ppmsite.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12176 it should be similar with amd processors. _________________ R.I.P Xeno.
Doing that is a bad idea. My processor is also 64-bit and I wouldn't want to disable something like Hyper Transport (AMD version of Hyper Threading). _________________ QUICK_EDIT

Actually, no, Hypertransport is the technology used by the onboard memory controller of AMD's more advanced Athlon 64 processors. Hyperthreading makes the computer think it's dealing with 2 logical processing cores on one physical core. _________________
