New tutorial about SHP radar colours, by Bittah!
Subject description: When we, lazy programmers, will implement it properly in our programs?
Bittah Commander has recently posted a tutorial showing the hardest, yet still easy for those hex code monkeys like me, way to change the radar colours.
The tutorial requires hex editing, but, no... it's really not a monster. It's actually simple. Here's a snippet:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"I finally figured out the mystery on how to change the radar color of tiberium, which should be useful for alot of mods. Here's how to do it:
Open the SHP of the tiberium (tib##.tem or tib##.sno, ## being a number from 01 to 20) in a hex editor and search for "03 00 00 00 00 00 00" (it should work either with or without spaces).
If you didn't get any results, try looking for "03 00 00 00 00 00 07" instead and if you still don't get any results, just leave the last number away, because it might vary sometimes (do not forget it's part of the number you'll need to replace however)."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Check it out HERE, with pictures to make easier to be understood. It's recommended for both TS and RA2 modders, since the SHP format is the same on both games. For more TS tutorials, visit our TS Tutorials Factory. If you have some good piece of info to share with the community, post a tutorial there. *Sorry, i ve edited this post just to explane my thoughts bit detalied.
There is actually two types of TEM\SNO. One of them is a SHP itself(tiberium, veins, trees, rocks), another is TMP (lets say Terrain Map Pieces ). So this tutorial will teach you how to change radar color of SHP-type. But doesnt touch real TMP at all, to edit this ones you ll need TMP editor 1.05
Correct me somebody if im wrong _________________ Gangster is a Project Perfect Wuj (c)Aro QUICK_EDIT
This is actually a feature which should be implemented in the SHP Builder, also with an 'AutoColor" feature like the TMP editor has.
@Gangster: You're right about that, though it's already obvious seeming the first type you mentioned never has problems with radar colors anyway. _________________ QUICK_EDIT
