After looking at IVI's concept artwork I thought about something, like the Aircraft have to reload why don't we have the tanks to reload as well e.g

Tank has 20 shells and destroys 3 light tanks and a small infantry fighting vehicle. Then after using the shells on the units you have used 20 up. You'd need to drive back to you base and use your secondary weapon... the machine gun. Or you could make a truck voexl that has supply shells inside it. Would this work at all? Could I have some good feedback on this?

Bad idea.

I dont mean to sound flaming but it will suck as it would grind the gameplay to a screeching halt.

Base assaults alone would force these "ammo trucks" ideas on being there.

That and the Ammo= functionality Im not too sure allows use of a Secondary=. Id need to test that.

Well it would be realistic as that is what happens if a tank comes under some unexpected attack and by the time reinforcements got there it destoryed the enemy but used up all its ammo.

ammo applies to both primary and secondary.
i heard the tag reload=[time] makes the unit autoreload after the specified time.

That would work, as it would take a few seconds between each shell to laod and fire. Not 2 seconds the boom etc.

The thing is, a tank can carry a few hundred grenades with it. And in "real" combat, the rate of fire lies much lower. So if by your example the tank would have used up all its 20 grenades, in "reality" it would've shot maybe five and still be able to hold out much longer.

A tank doesn't fire 'grenades' it fires large shells. And they cannot carry hundreds as the best main battle tank in the world the Challenger 2 can only hold 52 rounds. And the M1A2 Abrams tank can only hold 40 rounds.

I had a similar idea back then too Shadowlord but I'm afraid that they do have a point... it will add realism to the game yes, but gameplay would be altered... undesirably. that is, TS already had a slow gameplay. The idea of re-arming would be very welcome IF ammo was separate for primary and secondary. imagine a tank wasting it's Ammo trying to kill prone infantry and wouldn't fire as much shells if it had a seconadry weapon too.

It's a good idea Shadowlord, but I think that it can't be coded perfectly in TS... maybe in C&C3 it will though. Smile

Yeah, well it was worth a try. Thanks all that replied. I guess I will just have to wait until C&C3 comes out next year!

Well i just had a thought... that tag would only effect vehicles with it in their code. You could use it on things like Tanks etc. or things with projectiles. And the smaller units or units that use lasers etc. have unlimited...

That way it adds realism but doesn't totally ground the gameplay to a halt.

you should take in mind that in reality tanks oftenly kill other tanks in a single blow
