I'm wondering if those who make infantry shp have to draw each frame one by one? If not, what do they use ??

I know most people model an infantry is 3ds max and then animate it and export each frame as a bitmap e.g.

inf 0000
inf 0001
inf 0002
inf 0003 .......

and then import the bitmaps as frames in the SHP builder.

Most people edit the existing infantry - Making them with 3D and rendering out the several hundred frames and then coding a sequence is in three words - simply a bastard. Of course that said - TCs generally will use new modeled and animated infantry. (WH40k mod, Paradox Device, TAKTICS etc.)

Actually Carnivean, I've devised several ways to decrease the amount of time it takes to render out 580 (average) frames for one infantry. Using my methods, I can render an entire infantry and code the sequence in under 30 minutes. All I need is to have all the animation ready to go, and the rest is easy.

I meant including all the animating etc.

All the modeling and animation is done by Arikado. If I include the time he needs, working at our average pace, we can create a completed infantry in about 2 to 3 days. Not very long if you ask me. A hand drawn edit of an original shp takes weeks.

Usually it takes 30 minutes to convert an existing soldier into something different, just keep replacing colors and fixing bad dots, It's much easier when you don't actually need new models, or when you want to stick to the TS/RA2 style and size.

Nonsense, that just makes all the infantyr look similar. Even good new RA2 style stuf freally needs to be modeled. For decent and unique looking new infantry, 3D modelling is pretty much the only way to go.
