Delirium Wars.
Well I finished most of not all of preproduction work. Finally! I have some spare time to start working on Delirium Wars.! omg yay!
Well..its a Mod for TS/w FS. inspired from surrealist, abstract art, assemblages fairytales and ISpy books. etc
It entails a glimspe of the surreal world of Delirium. a vast dream-like realm populated by the dead and the dreaming.
Fighting for dire existance and supremacy, are the two warring 'states' that clash against each other....
The shadowy Phatasmagoria and its Nyxian swarms against the Elysium Kingdoms and their march for a total Utopia.
Currently I am focusing getting terrian set finalized. Entire new sets of terrian objects, etc and a majory of new title sets will be made to subvert the post-apocalyptic world of Tiberian Sun into a mad artist's worst nightmare. _________________ Delirium.. QUICK_EDIT
wow, this sounds cool. Like world war three in Alice in Wonder world. Will there be any catapillars with mushrooms? Lol good luck. _________________ Please, read the signature rules of the forum. QUICK_EDIT
actually, yea, planned on having strange fauna,flora...with melting clocks.
The main population of Delirium are dreamers themselves, people who sleep and find themselves lost. There are different types of dreamers and depending on their region, some have gone mad as, others dream by as if they were nothing more than tourists enjoying the show.
The primary resource in Delirium is pure imagination that has harden into a rich candy like growth or a soft gummy like succulent. Either in the forms of Sweet, Sour and Spicy. Having the ability to morph into nearly any material after refinement is the reason of its important. However the more pungent the higher its worth, but at a cost, however sweet it maybe. In its raw state it can alter the compostion of exposed units. often bursting into horrific shapes.....
Some areas have been so saturated they been renamed as 'candylands'. heavy population with alluring flora. Some types of these plants spread the formation of this substance.. These large masses eventually erode away from the land itself, turning into glittering sinkholes and cavities. It has been noted that some afflicted dreamers, inhabit these lands, defending blindly fertile ground.
The battlefield of the mind is waged by two major factions.
The Phantasmagoria represent primordial embodiment of maddness and fear...Lacking overall brute strength, they employ hide and seek tactics. Using their shadowy prowness to lure their prey into darkness, pouncing the enemy with a swarm-like strength..or spewing the land with parasitic ghosts and trench horrors.
While thought to be pushed into the darkest cracks of imagination they slowly seep back in the form of nightmares from time to time. However a surge has roused the Utopian Kingdoms to stop the shadowy infestation.
the Elysium Kingdom favors massive strength, bold and outlandish constructs and devices. As show of arroagance rather than pride in their elder traditions. The mighty army of the Utopia, is known as the Orchestra.
Using energy and sound. They boast the best technology to ripping away the formless voids that might contain thousands among thousand of wicked shades...only to find it is only a mere pinch of mass to a greater fiend. _________________ Delirium.. A doom mod seems very interesting to me now, partially because no one really seems to like the mod I'm working on. Well anyways would you be interested in joining the Doom mod? _________________ Please, read the signature rules of the forum. QUICK_EDIT
Quasi-isometric terrain with ground level sprites? Shame on you, Chiel, for even thinking of that.
And the Doom 3 monster (and Marine) designs don't even come close to the awesomeness of the recognisable Doom 1 & 2 designs.
If worse comes to worse, DaFool, you can always make a Wolfenstein mod instead. _________________ QUICK_EDIT
anyways. I know theres really nothing to comment on so far.
I've finished some terrian models probably drop some renders soon. and will start modelling the units and getting them animated.
Well, heres a shot of a quick experiment, a different way of making .shps...Its quite WIP. and I didnt copy the shadow since its just a purple blob so far.
I plastered it on some old screenshots and yea. its looking pretty..cartoony. hoping to detail the heck out of it to match ingame quality.---Media hut _________________ Delirium.. Last edited by Ickus on Sun Nov 19, 2006 11:53 pm; edited 1 time in total QUICK_EDIT
hey, tell me what you think of this. It's the chainsaw zombie from Doom 3... or atleast my attempt of it. Think I should recolour it's skin? Tell me what you think of it. I also made a quick building which I haven't decided what to use for, it's still under work but what do think for concept?
I've got a basic idea of the demon side. I don't think it will be based entirely on the classic C&C techtree, mostly because of the demon's lack of vehicles. I've got an idea for the power plant, the barracks, the radar, and more advanced barracks(for larger demons). My thoughts aren't concrete of what I'm gonna do, what were you plannign to do? _________________ Please, read the signature rules of the forum. QUICK_EDIT
the mancubus is pretty much a meaty flame tank. think in terms like that...dont be so literal with it and feel free to be creative, and research it.
i checked out those .shp's
one..its a good for a c&p job,but the chain saw needs work, and the motion of a RA2 civi and a D3 chainsaw zombie are way different!!
yea you can recolor it but still you wont get the same effect. If you played D3 you know what i mean.
and one the portal, aside it has palette issue, it needs to be reworked, i know you took cue from the games. but make it look badass. its a demonic barracks, not some bloody carpet stain on the ground. _________________ Delirium.. QUICK_EDIT
Im experimenting with different personality traits.exotic tactics etc. FoW will be an issue. also seeing maybe lighting can be an advanage or not. such as really dark maps might help a Nyxian player. or even vice versa.
.
Nyxians being made out of shadows are nearly blind. they rely on ESP units and bioluminescence in their unnatural habitat. however, it comes in handy when most of your units can "meld" into the darkness.
While on the other hand,Utopians live in a hue saturated world, enjoying the persistance of vision and light.. a draw back is their bases are a beacon to nasty stealth units should they be discovered, while they have ways with dealting with these bumps in the night, they can fall prey if there not careful.

Scheme Wars
evil 3rd post.
I am at a crux. after looking at various schemes. I came up with three. Now the black scheme is simply killer..yet the other too I like aswell, the grey the lest..but its a compromise between the contrasts, although I have not seen the voxelization yet anyways. shameless promotion and comment/suggestions on the unit....[have mercy!]
The black one is nightmarish, just the way it should be, demonic additions are overdue. I'd expect this unit (being a shadow) to be phasing out of our reality from time to time, or acting like a gaseous entity of some sort, or a liquid.. This could add to the atmosphere. So, what about making it look more... Liquid?... Gaseous?...
It looks like it floats (Dúh ), so I suggest you make it an shp and add liquid/gaseous movement to the animation.
And about light? What about Phatasmagoria (Geez, what a word ) bases having slight negative lighting around them? I mean, you can't have exceptions for vision, like having the Nyxians have a different method of perception and by using darkness and light, you only annoy the player
Alpha images only work on buildings (Ah, not that crappy method of having it on vehicles, it doesn't work.) and deployable shadow generators are just lame. QUICK_EDIT
I didnt think much about such things of elemental states for this unit. but did imagine this unit to be pretty solid, made out of bone. or something..but they are shadow people... and it does have tracks/wheels, but i can make it hover and puff?:p
but, I did have in mind for infantry to dissipate.. if this was a .shp the walking/crawl animations could appear as a roaming ink blots. manifest its self only to attack, stand ,idle. toss on cloaks=yes and it would be more of a pain to see. especially in an negative artic theater.
plus the enemy wouldnt know what was coming at them if they all had similar animations.kinda scary. if they did notice them approaching en mass.
Shadow gens?.Nay for building Neg lamps? well too much will laggy.
I know Alphas are limited to buildings. When I ment blind..I meant very low visiblity. only a few cells worth of vision. so scouts ahoy. I did go crazy with palette shifting. that was fun. but no funky vein weed lighting or tripnifty acid vision for these guys.
Lol. It is quite a word! hence why i simply refer to them as Nyxians for now.. spidery dark things. they are..... Now the Utopians.. a mixture of cutesy happy stuff, old medival fantasy and a mean streak of a dark dr.seuss. _________________ Delirium.. QUICK_EDIT
