time for map numba 16

Mapstory:
This area has been lucky enough to evade the invasion of the dangerous tiberium for the most part. However, the river in this area is a key stragetic point in which both sides see as an opportunity to gain an advantage over the other.
Your objective is to secure this region for your own.

General Info:
Map Name: Holixe River (made up by me
Map Size: 76X94
Info: Players will fight in a very canyon filled area with a river splitting the two start positions. there are 3 bridges which cross the river. The main one in the center connects the 2 players almost directly to each other. Tiberium is somewhat limited but should sustain a full battle. Build space is also somewhat little if you dont plan your base accordingly. Best not to play tech 10 battles on this map. enjoy Wink

Pics:

minimap

a tib field

forested village

another tib field

another village

yeah yeah same pics as in the other topic for it being a WIP but the only difference is the map lighting is a just a wii bit darker. not much though.

please leave me lots of comments Rolling Eyes

anyways here is the map for ya guys. enjoy Wink

Looks very nice so far... However... Yes, I'm the only/first one bitching this time Very Happy..

However, you have a load of repeating trees. Where most people do not find this a problem, I'd think that separating similar trees in such a way that is is not noticable anymore will fix the last error. Same goes for barren trees along with green ones, I'd think that trees close to a tiberium field are barren, where ones a little bit further away should be green. You also shouldn't use too much grass close to tib fields, especially not in case you plan on placing fona down, because the radiation levels on Fona etc. are even higher. This also goes for blue tiberium. Smile

And perhaps you could use map editing to tone down the lighting of the yellow light post to make them give off a sickly and apocalytic glow?

yay constructive criticism Very Happy

welll to answer the tree problem......i simply used the random tree placement so placing trees would go faster and forgot to go back through and check for repeating trees but yeah i see a lot of them too. ill go fix that.

and i see your point about the barren trees ill make a few changes to the trees closest to tib fields and stuff

and for the lighting....the only Yellow light post i used was put by the waterfalls to give them that glowish like thing that i really like. so maybe i will make it look apocalyptic in a FS version later. as this map really isnt suppose to be apocalyptic its more of an escape from most areas of the world that are destroyed by tiberium already while this area is just barely being infected.

there i think that covers the stuff......ill get to work soon and make changes to those trees and fix them up.

any other comments?

Yeah, Don't use the random tree placement tool, it's one of those evil and completely unholy features in finalsun, just like the beginner mode and the paint cliff back and front tools #Tongue (last two are okay to fill areas behind cliffs where you normally had to use invisibility mode, just fix any repeating tiles later if you use it Laughing )

Seriously, it takes more time fixing the trees and fitting them in the right place than it does learning what tree number belongs to which tree, where the differences between green/barren/dead lie, what fits in with what type of terrain and where to place them.

Sorry for the stupid question, I read around and couldn't find anything about it anywhere (I'm new), so I was wondering how exactly to get your map into my game once I've dl'd it...I unzipped it and all, but what do I need to do next? Thanks

@demon10 you simply take the map file out of the .zip or whatever the compression archive is being used and place it in your SUN folder where the TS exe is found and where the mix files are found

thanks smiffgig Smile

i dont know if putting ALL of my maps URLs in my sig is a good idea for 2 reasons
1-there are currently 16 and hopefully soon to be 18 (although one will be for YR and the other will just be a mutated version of this one)
2-my early maps arent really that great(especially my maps before Ionic Waters because i didnt have marble madness up to that point Confused )

but i do agree that is a good idea i think i will do that allthough it will take some time which i dont have right now so ill do it in the next few days. and i will probably include my maps from Alcedonia Terra and on as that was my first great map.

anyways i have been slacking a little on making the tree fix which im starting to doubt ill ever do. and iv got the changes to the terrain and to a good portion of fona placed down for the mutated version already but thats about it. however i will try and force myself to get working again here soon.

anyways........are there anymore comments? Very Happy

no problem demon10 Smile

anyways im sorry but im not gonna get to the fixing of the trees on this map. not enough time and motivation to do so. BUT i still plan on having that FS version out eventually. not sure just how long though cause iv been making that YR map. (which i ought to update the minimap for it)

anyways i have a lil time so ill put the maps in my sig now i guess.

more comments anyone?
