More Command & Conquer 3 Previews!
Subject description: Practice your english, german, chinese and more...
I've recently finished to write the part 3 of my wrap-up and now I'll post the details from the game that I know. After checking what other sites posted or even talked about the subject, I won't waste my time doing a unit list. You guys might be getting tired of seeing them around. So, I'll focus on the things people forgot to say.
Anyway, while my next article isn't ready, check it out what people are spreading in the web:
-> CNCNZ.com (read CNCN Zed, because the NZ is from New Zealand) has a new podcast made by Hypnotist (who isn't from New Zealand) describing the unit list and asking all of us to save the monuments. I partially agree with it, except for the White House (err... ok, just kidding.. White House should stay untouched too... 2008 is coming, hehehe). So, why should you read the unit list if you can listen to it? Go THERE to check it out.
-> At CnC3.Net, Hostile has posted the second article about his gameplay experience in the community summit. He covers sidebar, crane, surveyor and several other related information. A lot of new stuff there, check it out!
-> CnC Headquarters (German) also has a review of the game, but I couldn't understand a word, except for... errr....the ones in bold, although I couldn't understand "Kinoreifen Filmszenen" (probably something related to the movies). You can read it HERE.
-> Webboy contacted me while I was writing this new to inform me that he posted the first part of his article about the summit HERE. MyCnC.Org (http://mycnc.gamesir.net) is a chinese community, so the article is written in chinese. Fortunatelly, there are beautiful pictures from his trip and the hotel. He'll post more pictures soon.
-> Now, back to english speakers, there is a topic in the Renegade Forums where Crimson posts some information about the AI. Read it HERE.
And that's it for now! But, don't worry, there will be more! I hope you have a good night, a good meal and a good breath with C&C3. Stay tuned at PPM for more! Last edited by Banshee on Sun Jan 14, 2007 3:09 am; edited 2 times in total QUICK_EDIT
C&C HQ claims TQFD is "a worthy successor" to Tiberian Dawn. (Says "the 1995-released Westwood title" - so they can't mean Sun.)
I only skimmed over it, but it sounds like the usual EA-bribed "oh they were so nice to invite me", PR-like praise. It focuses heavily on the gameplay. It also brings some nice constructs, like claiming the long-missed C&C feeling is back, only to reference Generals and BfME2 as feature-inspirations in the next sentence
And it makes clear the game needs a whole lot of power from your machine.
The C&C Inside piece is less of an essay, more short, distinct paragraphs about certain aspects. Since they called it a "preview", I assume there's a more detailed report to come.
Skimming over it, the Inside piece is much more factual and realistic (i.e. less "YAY! YAY! YAY! I WAS AT THE SUMMIT!! THANK YOU EA!!!"), saying, for example, that time will tell whether the new dynamic production building selection will work. It also says that (while HQ claimed the game was soooo C&C), except for a few things like the Hand of Nod, almost no building, unit, etc. has a familiar look ("People are used to changes in design from game to game, but there are very few parallels, like the Hand of Nod, to other Tiberium-games."). They cite "enough reasons" for that, for example the change to a 3D-engine, and mention special units, like Ghoststalker or Mammoth Mk. II, are missing from the game.
If I interpret their description correctly, AI Generals are implemented. And they say Mike Verdu says GDI isn't the "good" side anymore.
Summarizing, HQ's report is just as any glorifying EA-fanboy report in the English community is, while Inside reminds the viewer several times that it's only an alpha, it's not done yet, and time will tell. _________________ #renproj:renegadeprojects.com via Matrix - direct link QUICK_EDIT
Nice to see your report Banshee. Gotta say, it was really nice to meet all of you, I actually want to talk to you soon, if possible, I want to set up a podcast of some sort, cause I want some with interviews, and you seem like a good person to do it.
As for all of you, I hope you guys enjoy the news we around the community try to provide for you. Keep in mind that we're allowed to talk about anything we saw now, so, ask as many questions as you want! QUICK_EDIT

That would be a pleasure (I need to practice my english ). QUICK_EDIT
I'm a little upset at the 'crane'... Since it only changes classic cnc gameplay. The change from 'primary' systems to the AOE per building system is yet another leaning away from cnc. _________________

Not sure about that, Mice. The development team actually learned something good about the classic cnc gameplay, which is... you can manage what you are building away from your base, during the battle.. and this is something that they want to keep in the following Command & Conquer/RTS games. Of course, they also wants to allow the construction of units per ammount of factories. I think this system is a real evolution from the CnC classic style and I like it.
