While we wait for the cool videos from Hexetic at Planet CnC and PurePwnage, I'll keep you guys informed with the lastest articles about the Command & Conquer Summit that happened last month.

I know I've told I'll write a full article about the game itself and I've only written random bits on some topics in the forum, but I've been busy putting that GeForce 7800 GTX to work. And it works wonderfully. Even BfME II is being played with ultra quality at the maximum resolution that my screen supports. Isn't it nice #Tongue?

Anyway, let's get straight to what matters:

-> EALA Predator, also known as Aaron Kaufman, EA APOC or 'PredApoc', has posted the official article about the event. While he tells 1001 wonders about it, the article features some great new photos and links to almost every single fan articles and the websites that attended the event. Funny that in the website list, PPM is the last one... I guess it's because I was the last person to be confirmed in the event, due to my visa appointment problems. I don't know if this is good or bad... if someone decides to scroll down the article... welcome to PPM! Now, in a serious note, after reading that article, I've noticed that I've messed up the order of some events in my article (like the visit to the 4th floor, interval and Richard Taylor's presentation), but that might not be a big problem, isn't it?

Anyway, I'd like to remind that, if you live in the USA and pre-order the game through the EA Link service (www.ea.com/ealink), you have a chance to go to the next summit that will happen on early march (4th to 7th) with all expenses paid and 200 dollars to spend on everything that you want. Head to this link for more information.

-> At Strike Team, Don Carlo has posted two summaries about the information from the presentations that we've watched in the summit. While most of attendees have to rely on their neurons, she used a laptop to write everything that was presented in the event. I must admit that her 'memory' is much more reliable than anyone else's and I highly recommend you to read her articles. Here's the links:

=-> Game Overview
=-> RTS As A Sport

-> Trojan from GameReplays has written a very interesting article: CnC Summit Desclassified that shows the magic behind the C&C3 gameplay and, some flaws as well:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Game 2, and it was time to get serious about abusing some Mini-MCVs. Success, make a barracks adjacent to your enemy base, and spam engineers with tower support.

Conclusion: Mini-MCVs are ridiculously overpowered, especially combined with Engineers, gameplay dissolves into nothing involving any remote form of skill."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And, this is yet another reason I do hate the Surveyor (Mini-MCV). The tower support can be done with obelisk of lights... beware.

But let's not be unfair with the game. The game really rocks and I'm not saying this because I was invited. I'm saying this because I had a lot of fun playing it. Here's a good quote of the article:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"My time with C&C3 was amazing, and unlike anything I've previously experienced in any other game. It's fitting that EA are spending money and time developing techniques of bringing RTS gaming to everyone, and C&C3 will be first game using the broadcast system, because C&C3 definitely feels to me like a great game to watch. It's fast, frenetic and unpredictable. The gameplay follows a similar pattern, but units are highly responsive and give you full value for every action you perform, whilst retaining a healthy pace."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And I couldn't agree more with him. It is frenetic, it is fast, fluid and fun as EA promise in the C&C3 official site.

-> At CnC Vision, Jsuh0107 has posted his article about the summit full of game information. It's a very interesting article for all the gameplay information that it provides and he's done a pretty good job for someone who played for only one hour (he had to leave early one day before us, during the RTS as Sport presentation and he couldn't play against AI and as aliens).

And there might be more. Head to Command & Conquer 3 Official Site for more links from other attendees.

How long does it take to gain access to the surveyor?

EA got a good number of little details wrong by the sounds of it, for example the lines about A Path Beyond are nearly completely wrong. I just had to point out this little nugget:

Quote:
The gentlemen from famed www.PurePwnage.com discussed how their hit-series evolved from their love of C&C and showcased some exclusive clips from their upcoming DVD, head-shot boom!

Truly spoken like Mayor Quimby.

You can build the surveyor in the beginning of the game. The limitation is when you deploy it... kinda 30 seconds.

The EA article has some spelling problems which should be easily fixed. I do a lot of them as well, so I hardly nitpick them.

Yeah, like beginning #Tongue.

It's nice to see EA posted some things about the summit Smile. The preorder thing sounds quite nice, but if you don't live in the US, payment and transfer costs may not be easy. While there is a chance to win something, if you have to pay an extra 10 dollars for transfer costs it is kind of cheaper to just buy it in a shop around here.

EDIT The FAQ on EA's site states:
2. Eligibility. This Sweepstakes is only open to residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia, except the state excluded below, who are 18 years of age or older at time of entry.
