Look carefully at the picture below:

Do you think that it looks like a terrain made for Yuri's Revenge? I guess most of you wouldn't think that, if nobody told you that this terrain is the latest addition from The Awakened Kingdom: The Initial Chaotic Strike (TAKTICS), the total conversion that will bring the Mario universe to your Yuri's Revenge. But this is just one picture from the many terrain pictures that were recently displayed at the TAKTICS forum. Head to this topic for more. Enjoy it!

I have to agree with the guys, the work is simply beautiful. So clean and professional, like all the work so far on TAKTICS.

Some fabulous work guys.

that is very nice exept from a few lines that are a bit too sharp in my opnion (such as the one indicated on the pic). Maybe making them les dark could improve that point.

The Mario schema is comic and fun... it's not supposed to be photo-realistic bonzy_buddy. That said, the outlines are ok, they help give TAKTICS that nostalgic Mario-type cartoon mileu feeling to YR. Moreover, the terrain work on TAKTICS is incredibly professionaly done... I can't ask for anything more Mario-ish than that. 11/10 for me Very Happy

Now the interesting question is...do the tubes go somewhere? Very Happy

It looks just great. There's no better way to translate Mario's world to YR.

Question, though: Is this ingame? 'cause all the other shots seem to be renders...

Does Yuri's Revenge have tunnel logic?

It is ingame, all of the screens have been effectively ingame, IIRC.

These screens are actually not in-game. I compile them in Paint Shop Pro X by piecing together all the tiles I have completed. Having actual in-game shots before ALL the terrain is done is a huge pain, simply because the palette keeps changing so I have to keep reconverting the tmp files.

The miniature pipes unfortunately are just replacements for the rocks and as such will not function like pipes. (Oh how I wish we could have point-to-point teleportation on buildings...) The TS tunnel logic does indeed work in RA2, but we are not entirely sure this feature will be ready for the demo, unless you guys want to wait even longer. I also know that getting the tunnels to work in RA2 takes a bit of work.

Is there a tutorial somewhere for correcting the tunnels in RA2? I remember they have some difficulties if you don't fix them. Unless all it is, is a graphical fix? Enlighten me. Smile

P.S. I've updated the image Banshee posted in our forums. New Water Bridge tiles and those cliffs don't have such a sharp and pointy piece sticking out at the bottom. Definitely looking better if you ask me.

They aren't in game? My apologies. However, I thought that you said that that is exactly what the terrain will look like ingame? Or similar, anyway?

It is what it will look like in-game. That image is made using the completed tiles. As such, the image was made out of isometric images, the exact ones that will be converted for in-game use. The screen is not a screenshot from within the game, but you can pretty much call it that.

FA2 has tunnels completely removed.

Guess I'll get DCoder to help me out when I get to that stuff. Wink

Yeah why not. No harm in creating the tiles at least.
