Command & Conquer 3: Tiberian Twilight
Subject description: One of the 1st CnC3 mods :) (Warning, 'banner' is 800x300)
G'day,
I'm starting a mod for Command & Conquer 3 called Command & Conquer 3: Tiberian Twilight. The idea behind this is to add in the units CnC3 is missing (more mech's, hover units, disruptors, more stealth units etc) and make it into the CnC3 that most Command & Conquer Fans expected .
We will be using some of the units EA has in the game (eg: GDI Orca), however they will likly have reassigned roles (in The orcas case it will be the Orca Gunship, fighting alongside the Orca Fighter and bomber). In other cases it will be units made from Westwoods CnC3 concepts and in a few cases we will have some units we created from scratch (rare tho to try and keep it as true CnC as possible).
Depending on whats possible with CnC3, if the game allows more campaigns to be added we may even add our own campaign, however if we make one it will work with EA's one, to suppliment it, not replace it.

We can host mods that have straight goals and interesting progress. In short, if public response here is positive, you can easily get hosted with us . QUICK_EDIT
For gods sake, It's not even released and already people want to mod it... just let it be for a while.
If EA used the Technology that is meant to be in CnC3 we wouldnt need to mod it, GDI are missing their Mechs, hover units etc.
This isnt a mod to stuff up the CnC3 game, just to upgrade it with the CnC3 units from Westwoods TT concepts. QUICK_EDIT

Actually, I think it's a good idea - making the next C&C game a C&C, not C+C. And since it's a mod, all you have to do is keep things logical and true to the WW spirit. Good luck. QUICK_EDIT

@ Desu - No, creating a game, which will be played and enjoyed a decade later is the Westwood spirit. I was never around when the photoshoped Pre-release screenshots came out, so they don't really mean much to me. And you must admit that, even with all their flaws, TS and RA2 are nice games. Well logical comes down to each persons point of view. Put it this way, we'll keep it 'logical' in the CnC universe, thats what we all fell in love with anyway

Being fair in the RA and TD times ( possibly TS ) there wern't super fancy things available for them to use, like what you see in CnC 3 and games such as Company Of Heroes, its of course logical that a rocket soldier would completely take out an enemy infantry platoon, but this would make rifle infantry obsolete immedeatly, tanks would be of course much more effective than you see in CnC games, but it all has to be balanced in a way that all the units have defined purposes within thier primary roles. _________________ QUICK_EDIT

That's still in TW. I figured it out 2 weeks ago and posted it on the official EA boards. I'm guessing that's how the Aliens got all this global electricity transmission via spaceships, the Storm Column (which is basically, a tesla coil) and the Ion Storm. I have reasons to believe that the Scrin and Tesla are linked somehow. QUICK_EDIT

Basically what B C cam up with was this: rumors said that Tesla attempted to contact aliens with his technology. In the tiberian universe, those aliens were the scrin and so they responded by sending tiberium to the earth and stuff.

Technically, you cant. The countries all use post World War II borders/Post Cold War RA uses post WWII, too. States like Albania, Macedonia, Czech Republic, and Slovakia exist. Yeah, so Westwood didn't have it entirely perfect, no suprise really, look hard enough you'd probably find a flaw with anything.

RA was the start of the universe. Einstein removing Hitler is what shifted the "real" universe to the C&C one. In the original, original drafts of the RA story, Tesla and Einstein were the dueling scientists behind each side's new tech. Although the tesla tech stayed for the Soviets, Tesla didn't.
However, if you read about Tesla (the real tesla), you'll find that he claimed to have contacted aliens through his tech... hmm... now what if he really DID contact aliens... what aliens did he contact? What did the aliens do in response?
...are you starting to see where this is leading?

I said that Red Alert itself is impossible because Westwood used wrong maps. The maps in TD are post 1945.
Westwood can not explain how an M1 Abrams, Ah-64 apaches, MiL Mi-24 Hinds, and MiG-29 fulcrums, built in the 50s...a Fourty year jump to Tiberian Dawn...are STILL in use, and STILL main vehicles. Nevermind the jump from Prop. planes to Jet-propulsed aircraft, ICBMs, and twin rotor'd Helicopters, AFTER the war, apparently technology ceases entirely untill TD comes around. Whole C&C is impossible, if you look on it that way. Abrams etc. were just Westwood's fast guesses for something better sounding than Medium Tank ,Light Tank etc. I'm just stating some westwood fiction facts- not real world facts, that are important for Tiberian Twilight/Incursion/whatever name will this mod have.
If you hate the fact of inconsistency of C&C with real world, don't play it.
I'm talking about why C&C (RA2) is not inconsistent with C&C (RA,TD,TS,TT), and that it probably will be inconsistent with C&C (TW). _________________ Time will tell...

No, its not Westwood's 'quick fixes'. Westwood was lazy, plain and simple. Westwood could not be bothered to crack open a book about Military vehicles and see WHAT these tanks were, amazing that the 3TNK is an actual tank. How does Westwood go from Thirty five years after WWI, a war of rhomboid tanks, artillery guns strapped onto railway cars, make it through the LARGEST ECONOMIC DEPRESSION IN HISTORY, to...
Many of which were pioneered by JURMAHN engineering during a WAR. War oils the wheels of technology and makes them move. Now if we stop pulling ideas out of our asses and isolate RA in general, and look at TD, then TS...it makes sense, it works damn well, even the mechs(which i hate to no end.). The modern world shifting into an apocalyptic hell hole.
Better question:
HOW does RA go to TD if you follow the Soviet campaign? Europe is under Soviet oppression untill the early 1990s? ALL OF EUROPE? Why would an aggressive Soviet nation suddenly Stop with Europe? why not whip America's ass while we're at it? Why not free the rest of the Proletairit in the world? Besides, if Europe is suppressed untill the 1990s, HOW DOES THE U.N. FORM!? Does the U.N. just sprout out of somebody's ass? There is nobody to JOIN the U.N. aside from America and some Asian countries if you go from Soviet to TD. Did Kane come back and found the U.N. the day after the Soviet Union fell? TD doesn't follow the RA Soviet ending; TD follows the RA Allied ending and this has been confirmed quite a few times by Westwood- and EX-Westwood staff.
It's true a lot of technology of technology from RA remained the same in TD (the tanks mainly), but a lot of technology changed as well. GDI and Nod could have just invested in different research... Like aircraft, the Ion Cannon, Nod improved the nuke, Nod researched in Stealth technology. Possibly the tanks that remained the same in TD really aren't the same but have improved armor and do more damage (which would explain why the tanks in TD are slower than the ones in RA); or just make up any other excuse.
This still makes a lot more sense than the technology in Tiberium Wars not just staying the same, but even going backwards.
Anyway, I think it's nice you're making this mod, Rico; I'm certainly looking forward to it. There's only one issue though; the name.
When Westwood just made Tiberian Dawn, there intention was to make a trilogy:
Tiberian Dawn, Tiberian Sun, Tiberian Twilight.
When Westwood released Red Alert they changed their mind however and their intentional timeline changed to this:
Red Alert, Tiberian Dawn, Tiberian Sun, Tiberian Incursion and Tiberian Incursion would possibly get a couple sequels as well.
So I think it'd be better if you'd call this mod Tiberian Incursion instead.

Yes ive been noticeing that TT was renamed Tiberian Incursion, i was thinking of using it, however TT fits the C&C names better, Dawn -> Sun -> Twilight (different times of the day, from start to evening, maybe C&C4 is Tiberian Night meaning the end)

You might be right about the Tiberian Twilight matching Dawn and Sun better than Incursion, though I think Twilight, but I think it became a bit overly used (we'll probably find at least 2 other mods called Tiberian Twilight for C&C3 soon).
At the C&C3 forums it was discussed what would be a better name for Tiberian Wars and they came up with Tiberian Eclipse. That one sounds good to me, so how about using that name for your mod? _________________ QUICK_EDIT
