altering the camera angle was easy, both to find and to mod.
however, changing the values of the Defaultmaxcameraheight and Defaultmincameraheight didnt have any effect whatsoever, even though they are right above the angle-tag, so they're obviously involved.
anyone knows anything about them?

Bump!

this is the piece of code i talked about:

//------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
//These are the primary camera settings
//****CHANGING ANY OF THESE VALUES WILL AFFECT CINEMATICS*****
//------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DefaultCameraMinHeight = 120.0 ;The minimum height of the camera relative to the terrain.
DefaultCameraMaxHeight = 400.0 ;The maximum height of the camera relative to the terrain.
DefaultCameraPitchAngle = 55 ;The pitch angle of the camera off top down view.
DefaultCameraYawAngle = 0.0 ;The direction the camera faces by default.
DefaultCameraScrollSpeedScalar = 1.0 ;How much faster or slower all scrolling is.
//------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
//****DO NOT CHANGE ABOVE VALUES *********
//****PS: These values haven't been changed since original Generals anyways, this is an educational message.
//------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
//------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

P.S: yes, i know it says "do not change above values"

EDIT: forgot to say that the "400" and "55" are modded values. originals are 300-something and 37,5.

the defaultcamera pitch angle does work.
originally, it was 37,5. increasing to 55 made the camera look upon the battlefield from a more streight-down angle.
this proves that the ini file is read by the game.
its just the camera-height that i cant seem to adjust.
however, as it might be the case the XML file has a higher priority, where could i find it?

I think that you have to modify the gamedata.ini AND the Map.inis because each map seems to have its own "height-configuration".

I was afraid it was on a per-map basis... >_<

Is there a tool to modify the *.map-Files without the worldbuilder?
I found an instruction to change the max camera height in BFME2 (and Tiberium War uses the same engine...) He changed the values with FinalBIG in the gamedata.ini and then also in the Maps with the worldbuilder. It seems to work...but we have to wait for the worldbuilder Sad... or is there any other way to edit the *.map-files???
