3D models
hey, maybe we should try to collect as many videotutorials as we can on a file server like megaupload - or ppm ,if it can allow so many MB hehe-,
and post as many links to tutorials on the internet we can find (but only good ones). so newbies can learn how to model in 3D pretty fast
cuz there are many tutorials out there but most of them requiere you to know many things of modelling in gmax/3dmax.
So if we make a list of links and a server orso where fans can upload there own videostutorials, newbies could learn to model in 3D in no time - and not only for 3D modelling for that matter, but also encoding maybe, but 3D modelling is more important cuz if someone makes a TS to C&C3 conversion , most of the coding would already be done. QUICK_EDIT
well if you use gmax, it comes with 12 very handy tuts for getting you started, plus i know a place that has 3 or 4 good tutorials also, so if anyone wants tuts for 3d, get gmax.
One thing you can do if you want to learn stuff in preparation to mod C&C3 is to go and learn all about Normal Maps and Specular Maps as creating both will be essential for anyone wishing to add new 3d models. QUICK_EDIT
i didn't meant it do be only tutorial about how to design things ; units,buildings,etc
but more generally, but to offer some general information ;
if you create a new unit,for a specific side, where to put to 3D model(in which big file), and how to add it to the "rules.ini", which of course, are several
also if you create a 3D model,what should it be when it's finished ; mech,patch,poly,NURBS
(also a little more information about each of these)
**** personal doubt here, can't seem to open a W3D file with 3dmax studio,why? and what do i need to do, or which program do i need to open it?? QUICK_EDIT
firstly to import files into 3ds max you need renx which is a gmax plugin and also wsd import script. Then you need truespace 6.0 with the 3d explorer plug in. I'm pretty sure you can save it as a format compatible with 3dsmax though not quite sure. Just started 3d modelling myself but this should be a good start anyway. QUICK_EDIT
