Experiencing the C&C3 World Builder.
Subject description: For some reason, you must have border 30 or higher to play your map.
So, did you started playing with the new world builder? Yea, it eats your RAM massively. On some moments, it used less than 10mb here, others 75mb... and after some tweaks in the map, it used miserables 1.1gb of RAM.
My first experience with this program wasn't that great, let's be honest. I open the program, click on file and it complains that the parameter is wrong... rrrright. No big deal. Then, I open the map and start playing with it. I've added some tiberium patches that, in game, were ignored by the harvester unless we forced it to get that specific patch. So, first lesson of the day, use the tiberium fields only.
My map also had a very dark minimap. You know? I've set the lighting, made a big mess up with it and it looked cool in game. In game, not in the skirmish menu and neither in the minimap during the game. It was also a tad too dark. Does anybody know how to make your minimap more bright?
Another thing that I've noticed is that we need to mess up with the camera values, because the default ones are too close from the battle.
And in a final note, I took a while to get used with the way it resizes. The final size of the map is the size that you set plus the border. If the border is smaller than 30 feets, the game will not display your map in the skirmish menu. Yea, it simply refuses to show it.
Anyway, world builder tools to make mountains, texture terrains and even placing objects are good. You have a good amount of options for them. The fact is that practice makes perfect and if you wanna do good maps with it, you'll face a lot of problems.
So, how was your experience with it? Share with us and let's build a FAQ on how to deal with the most common and annoying problems of this program. QUICK_EDIT
I can't use this editor.
The first time it *seemed* to work, the map view and an Object Viewer or something like that opened.
After a while of freezing a Feather Brush Options window opened, the rest closed. No way to get it back.
So I ended the WB using CTRL+ALT+DEL.
Now, when I try to start it, it gives me an exception window when it's almost completely loaded.
No matter whether I reinstall it or not.
Great. All the original CnC3 maps are but crap and I can't do anything about it...
Hopefully this will get sorted after reinstalling the game.
