Back in the CnC Guild Voxel Grand Prix contests, the amount of voxels submitted in a contest wasn't high, the tools to make them were much worse than today's tools, but some Voxel Gods like MadHQ, Mig Eater, raminator and others usually had a hard fight to win it with very exotic and well done voxels. Things like a Tesla Turtle, Metal gear Rex, Bull dog Mechs won.

Tesla Turtle from MadHQ, winner of May/June 2004 CNCGuild Voxel Competition

Against all predictions, the newest voxel contests have more submissions, but in the most recent one, I think most of the voxels were quite disappointing and I only liked the second place, Cusp, from Rattuskid, the only war veteran in this battle. But, this voxel contest continues the tradition of awarding voxels based on animals, this time the Tarantula won... well, the Tarantula Gunship, from SaneDisruption, a visitor of this community who isn't a traditional voxeller. Only 3 voxels scored above 60% (and only one above 75%) thanks to the public vote. Here's the result:

1st) Tarantula Gunship, from SaneDisruption, scoring (71pts from judges + 10pts from public vote = 81pts)

2nd) Cusp, from Rattuskid, scoring (67pts from judges + 6pts from public vote = 73pts)

3rd) Mobile Iron Curtain, from TX1138, scoring (57pts from judges + 5pts from public vote = 62pts)

4th) BKHVR, from Team Black, scoring (54pts from judges + 5pts from public vote = 59pts)
5th) G80GTX, from ChielScape, scoring (50pts from judges + 8pts from public vote = 58pts)
6th) Tank02, from omnipotent highness krll, scoring (52pts from judges + 4pts from public vote = 56pts)
7th) Bug, from harv, scoring (50pts from judges + 4pts from public vote = 54pts)
7th) Puca, from Medusa, scoring (50pts from judges + 4pts from public vote = 54pts)

Congratulations for all those who participated and, specially for SaneDisruption who can win an awesome Renegade mousepad if he PM me.

These voxels can be downloaded HERE (Note: if a passion crap appears, just hit the X and you'll see the voxels).

ROTFLMAO!!! Why the hell did you have to show my turtle... Laughing

Yes I did win with that a few years ago. Laughing

Well the results have been done for a wail... they were posted at raminators site.

Well one thing that keep all the vxls low were the fact that the normals scores were slashed for say... as throwing auto normals takes the challenge out of making a vxl. (along with using a 3d model) So 10 points were lost if there was no sign of normals done by hand or points would have been given if it looked as if there was some kind of normals work.

EDIT* Also Note that raminators site is getting ready to put together a shp contest. Nothing is really set in stone, its just an idea thats going on.
