Community News!
Subject description: covering 27/05/2007!
Hello everyone! In one of the news about the server move, I said I would come with some good news later... one day after, I've posted like two news and... only today I've posted most of the news I was suposed to post on that day. That was partially affected by the Revora server move, since I also run Revora. And I have this little and bad tendency of overloading myself with a lot of things.
My university gave me some rest after the calculus test on monday, but I've done some other random activities in this time such as... buying tickets for the opening event from the Pan American Games, here in Rio de Janeiro. Oh yea, I'll be there . But it wasn't easy to buy it, since the damn ticket service wasn't as reliable as it was suposed to be with timing and there are too many people also interested on these tickets. Also, I've got a wi-fi card for my Palm Zire 72s handheld. I finally got to browse PPM with it and... God damn it! It's awful, dispite Google's attempt to improve it a bit! I plan to make a simple version of the site for mobiles as soon as I manage to browse PPM with my Palm at home (that has no wi-fi access yet), although some neighbors have wi-fi access points (how evil! ). I've been browsing for some internet related programs. Specially something like a Skype, which would turn my Palm into a cheap cell phone, specially if I ever return to USA and MSN for mobile. So far, what I tried didn't work well. And also, Revora, a massive operation to kill all bugs in the kitchen and a lot of sleep time, since I'm still low on sleep time.
Anyway, it's time for another quick round up around the C&C community. Sorry if I don't get into details on every news, but I still have a lot to do, specially in this site, which needs some content update urgently. C&C3 is out for ages and look at our left menu! It's depressing!
-> Official C&C3 Forums: EA APOC has started a contest that will give you GDI and Nod t-shirts if you post a picture of yourself with a C&C3 game. Hurry up and post your picture before the patch 1.05 be released (which is when this contest will expire). They'll send the t-shirt everywhere in the world, even if you live in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
-> GameReplays has interviewed Greg Black about the ballance changes in the next patch of C&C3 to be released later in this month or on early july.
-> DCOM Productions has opened the source of C&C3 Auto Replay, an utility that automatically save your replays once your match is over. For those who like C# and have Visual Studio 2005 Express, fun time is assured.
-> According to Planet CnC, Greg Black has also informed the community that the construction yard structures will provide shared ground control for team mates in the patch 1.05 for C&C 3, like the old Construction Yards used to do in the previous C&C games.
-> TiberiumWeb has new maps for... Tiberian Dawn! Yea, the community over there decided to create maps for this awesome, classic, almost 12 years old game. There are at least five of these goodies available for download!
-> CnCHQ.de has a completely new and awesome site layout. I don't know when they've changed that, but it was about time. Nice job!
And now, time for the final notes.
First of all, I won't post news about mods that add one or two features for C&C3. Jonwill's case was an exception, since it was the first one.
Finally, our best wishes goes to Xeno. Xeno has been a member of PPM forums for a while. He helped a lot of people here, posted high quality cameos and organized events with many sites of the community. He is a very kind and respectfull person in our community. Unfortunatelly, he was diagnosed with cancer again (he managed to survive against these things twice before), but this time the cancer is in a place where it is impossible to remove it completely. Read HERE for more information. Xeno, I wish you the best luck and I have faith in science. I hope there will be ways to cure your problem.
