Quick Community News!
Subject description: Covering 11/06/2007
Have you played C&C3 with the new patch recently? I guess a lot of people did, since the community has been somewhat silent after its release. The game is definitelly much better than it was before, even the replays are much more fun now. And that Schlachtfeld Stuttgart map is an example to be followed.
Anyway, if there is any sign of activity in the community, we must cover it. So, here we go:
-> At the Official C&C 3 Site, there is an interview with Greg Kasavin, one of the producers from the new 1.05 patch for C&C3. He talks about the new features of the patch, ballance changes and future plans. Interesting read.
-> After some problems with the original creator of Rock Patch (PaD) and cutting the distribution of both Rock Patch 1.10 and RPCE, CnCVK has confirmed that he will continue it, however, under another name, probably Swizzle Patch, dispite EYR easily win the poll he created there. For those who doesn't know about it, Rock Patch is a community patch for Yuri's Revenge that adds aditional modding features for the game.
-> There is a new mod announced and released recently. It's called The Keating Konflict. It's a total conversion for Red Alert 2 (not YR) with ten factions, all with their own history where nine of them have a reason to try to destroy the Keating Konspiracy faction, which rules about 70% of the universe. The first release of the mod is a hefty almost 100mb file and already has a lot of stuff in. According to the creator, Kilkakon, it will really make RA2 a superior game. Enjoy it!
-> Third War Beta 2b was recently released. This version comes with some ballance and graphics change for the new side, The Future Forces. Note that you'll need Beta 2 files installed to install this patch.
-> Renardin has returned to CnC Reborn, a total conversion that will bring Tiberian Sun universe for Renegade, and he already posted a lot of screenshots recently from the beta and from some textures.
And there might be more news, but they don't look much interesting for modders. Next time I have to post more updates of our hosted mods. If you visit TAKTICS forums, you'll see some good terrain updates and this is just the start. But I'll get into it later. QUICK_EDIT
hmmm fun stuff. I may have to check out that Keating Konflict. seeing as it seems like a large mod there it might actually be good.
make sure if you get to the hosted mods and stuff you get some good piccies
also dont forget to check the map archives (of all games) for some new/ fairly new released maps. as on the TS side, Crashking released one in mid May and iv just recently released one for TS. both have gotten good comments but really didnt get much response on them. so dont forget to check them out!
also just as an alert for here as i really havent said to much about it here but iv been working on a TS campaign and the demo is almost finished and i hope to release it by the end of this month. _________________ Kalistia Crestland (2)

And whatever you do, DON'T play a short game (everything explodes instantly!) or a Urban map (Internal Error!)
How the hell can you ztype up the game like that?
Besides the whole concept sounds a lot like ProjectALPHA (TM) (R) (C) (R) (insert name mentionning license text here).
10 factions is just exaggerated. And the website does not even show any screenshots.
Who is going to download a 100MB mod with that above warning message and no screenshots or previews whatsoever??? QUICK_EDIT
I agree, i checked out the site and thought of the same thing. Plus the only screenie you did see did not look promising, though i think its bad to judge a book by its cover. QUICK_EDIT
EDIT: The book IS the cover. And the cover sucked. The AI built SWs as they saw fit. There was NO tech tree, and alot of the units were as bad as chrono n00kmonkeys. The best items of the entire RA2 game were turned to tech units.
And, I'm sure you've read the stories. There WERE 10 factions, IIRC, but they all sucked terribly.
0/5, it's utter failure. And I have no idea why it's so big. It's not an overhaul like CnC Reloaded. It's just...ugh... _________________

Very nice material, Chronojam .
And for those who complain at Konflux Konflict, I'd like to remind you that the mod was originally a private mod, so yea, it was originally 100% n00bish as everyone else's private mod (maybe there are extremely rare exceptions, but I'm not aware of it). The guy has recently made it public, so there is a transition time . Be patient and post constructive comments to speed up that transition.
Honestly, bashing newbies is just not the way to make this community friendly. QUICK_EDIT
I don't see why you'd make a n00b mod like that. It derives from the gameplay, and make no logical sense.
Hell, my first n00bish mod, I made it where every nation had access to their side of the tech, e.g. Every ally had Snipers, every soviet had Desolators. Nothing that kills gameplay, though. :S _________________
It was not as bad, though. Sure, removing the restriction was silly, but it didn't add retarded storylines, half-thoughtout units, etc. to RA2. It merely attempted to become TS with just 2 main sides. _________________
If what all you people have been saying is true, then I am a n00b, and nobody should play the Keating Konflict. After all, you gamers are the final users of the Keating Konflict, and if the game does not appeal to your tastes, then it requires modification.
This is the second creation of mine, and although my team of six are very proud of this game, the player's needs come first. A website stating the problems of its own game and having very little documentation should be despised. A 100mb download, just to see an ingame moment, is unforgivable.
And my father's comments of the Keating Konflict being "the best 2D game in the world" only add fuel to the fire, making it a powerful manifestation of disaster. It's a pathetic excuse for a game, adding "retarded storylines, half-thoughtout units [and making] no logical sense."
That's the cover of the book of the Keating Konflict, and according to Modder666, "the book IS the cover." And as Modder666 so vividly said: "And the cover sucked." It's what happens when a group of Australians all think something is good, but really it isn't.
It looks like a mod with very little graphics, which is bad in itself, even though it is a Total Conversion.
The story? Even though we've got a timeline spanning thousands of years and being incredibly detailed, it's just uncreative.
And ten teams? Please, try 9. And some of them are quite similar to each other. And the Herdmasa's technology tree is so convoluted that even I can have trouble using them.
However, if I may, I would like to say several things in the game's defence.
Firstly, the game is balanced based on the fact that players play to the strengths of the seperate teams. The Remnant Allies, for instance, should rely on their Component Towers to safely wall themselves in to their own base. The Keating Konspiracy should use the Shield of Despair's luring ability combined with mind control units to easily gain extra forces. Teams should capture Tech Supply Dumps to gain access to Scanner Arrays to detect Earthshakers and other underground superweapons.
Secondly, I have never seen the "AI buil[ding superweapons] as they [see] fit," and honestly, I have trouble getting the AI to build them fast enough, and they sometimes sell them. But if Modder666 said it happened, it must surely be true, since he and others are more experienced than I.
But ultimately, if this game is in such dire need of refurbishment, why not help us to tweak it? Although our 9-month effort has produced some results, it's you guys and gals who obviously have the experience and wisdom to make the Keating Konflict live up to what my father thinks about it.
So please, why go and post those needed improvements in our forums? If the end result is a good mod that you yourself are proud of, then it must be worth the effort. Consider it a challenge, for all you modding experts, to improve such a shoddy game to a game that is "the best 2D game in the world."
Will you please help me? If you will, it will not be forgotten. And I base these worthy comments on myself, and not on PPM. It's not called Project PERFECT Mod for no reason.
hmmmm interesting challenge. Well though im making a mod of my own and have heafty time constraints of my own, i will overcome the previous thoughts i had about your mod and download it, then i can only say what i think about it, and ways to improve it and no more. This is all i can offer atm and i dont think this position will change any time soon. QUICK_EDIT
