Subject description: Not enough volunteers...

A New World War II Mod is needed for YR. Blitzkrieg was good and all, but it was seriously lacking in the coding, not to mention the details of WWII.
    *Better voice acting if possible
*Many more units that were not included
*The more important historically accurate details, i.e. the 101st, the 82nd, and other heroes of WWII.
*All major sides of WWII, including the Pacific Theater, Japan, Germany, America, and Britain.
*More things that are possible thanks to the RockPatch / NPatch
*Singleplayer missions detailing each side's story (Not just America!)
*Last of all, many more maps.

If I can get help from all those fellow modders out there and from the C&C Modding Community I AM SURE that we could make this the best damn mod ever to be seen (for RA2)!

Officially these positions are currently open:
    *Voxel Artist
    *Shape Artist (SHP)
    *Infantry Animator
    *General Artist
    *Sidebar Artist
    *AI Coder
    *INI Coder
*Mod Compiler (will be recruiting when a release version is almost finished)
    *Historical Help

I can code much of this mod, but I may not have much time in the future, so I will recruit one to do the coding when I cannot. This way this mod cannot just die out. Always must have a backup plan for just in case.
Hopefully, I can get the best modding team possible together. Then this will be a worthwhile mod to play.

One more thing...This Mod Needs A Befitting Name

GEE IF WE FOCUSED ON ONE ztyping THEATRE WITH 2 TEAMS (THEM AND US/GOOD AND EVIL,ECT) MAYBE SOMEBODY COULD PULL IT OFF, OP. NOT THIS EPIC 'HEY LETS DO IT ALL'.

NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.

WWII mods are too fuckign epic for the average modder. MiG eater's D-day will probably never make it out. I doubt it...Logistically, the guy's got more work then any other mod out there, he has to get everything right, and he has no help.

Why make another WW2 mod? D-Day might soon release a demo, so simply play that.

@Raminator - You're right I haven't released anything as far as mods go, but it is only because of my extra high standards as far as detail and perfection go. AND I have played the newest version and still there are numerous errors in the coding, like it or not. Still not close to greatness I was hoping to achieve with this.

I have BEEN waiting for D-Day, but it is taking too long...

Besides, it's not my fault half the modders out there only want the glory for themselves.
@ Carno - Blah blah blah...same old crap you say to every big mod out there. Something I've come to expect from you. Laughing

At least Rico has some helpful words to share here.

Oh dear GOD no. The last thing, anyone, anywhere needs are online WWII 'experts'. Neckbeard fatties debating over how many UFOs Hitler used to enslave Africa and the like... all biased towards their own nationality.

The horror. The horror...

Weren't you like... begging for help with how to add voxels just a few months ago? Yeah...

See, MiG's been around the block, and knows his shit... and is good at what he does, and even for a while was unemployed so he actually had the time to do that shit, but you have way more on your plate than a few cameos and voxels and ramalamdingdong WWII mod done. At least if you don't want it to suck. Even if, by some star-crossed fate, you don't abandon the project in a week, MiG will still have out a polished finished version before your first Beta.

It's like, failure in progress.

My historical mod based on Civ 3 will include the ww2 time period, although it will not be fully dedicated to it. (I'm shooting for history in general rather than all the specifics for a 5ish year time span). When I get to it I can post some units up.

1) it´s raminator not Raminator... k?
2) i doubt that you played most actual version of blitz coz only a hand full of guys/girls had the "honor" to test it! and i´m pretty sure that you are none of them #Tongue
btw...when blitz v2.0 was released it was one of the top mods/tcs...

ok...enough n00b bashing...

now something more contructive

it´s ok to start a new ww2 mod
but don´t say it will be better than blitz or even better than ANY mod like AR2 or D-Day when it is released

universal anyone? #Tongue

Uh...no...were did you read that?

@raminator - Not my fault you don't start with capitals...
1)DON'T compare me to universal, whatever you do.
2)Well you can't just set me up like that. How was I supposed to know there was a version in testing? eh?
I played the newest RELEASED version, how would you expect me to have played the other?
AND I specifically said,"If I can get help from all those fellow modders out there and from the C&C Modding Community I AM SURE that we could make this the best damn mod ever to be seen (for RA2)!"

Harumph...maybe if you learned how to read english, it would help you're predicament.

@DaFool - I can post all the voxels I've done that no one else has released a version of...like the M2A1 and others too, in the meantime. Thanks.

Well, a mod for YR about WW2 could be cool, but it needs a lot of work and good units. You should keep in mind the idea about 1 day and think if it is viable. If it is, go for it. But if it is not,... you should search a better idea.

Also, I don't see so many voxeler that are free (all are in mods). There are SHPers, but the mod staff should be big, so big...

Good luck anyways Very Happy

Maybe I am exaggerating a bit with that.

Well thanks for backing off from the disgraceful pessimism...

Anywho, I'm still not going to be able to make any real progress until I get a bit more recruits. Plus I'm going to be rebuilding a house for the next week. Lots of fun for me...Rolling Eyes After that though, I will be free for at least 2 months after this big job.

@Rattus - Still wanna know where you read that, not to be an ass about it.

It was a general statement, but even though you may be competent, it doesn't make you established. So you're like the 'some guy' of the community. not a bad spot for hanging out, but not a good spot for HOLEE CHRIST GUYS I'M MAKING THE BEST MOD EVER, EPIC either.

That whole textual masturbation you wrote about having the drive and not being "the average modder" just took all my previous assessments about you and added "possibly has Asperger's" in front of them.

Seriously dude, try if you like. I'm tired of being the bad-guy just because I bet on the house. When people don't go anywhere, just like I predict, they just remain butthurt at me anyway. It's lose-lose for me either way.

I can get you these guys converted from CIV 3. Note Civ 3 is an awesome game and you all should play it.

P.S. This isn't all the units

I would assume those are all SHPs, thus making the Zero, 262, Spitfire, Lightning, Wild/Hellcat, Hurricane, and B17/29 useless, as SHP aircraft + RA2 = lolwhut?

I haven't converted them yet into .shp, so if they'd be a waste of my time, thanks for the heads up.

Could you convert the infantry and artlillery into shp? If theres the right sequences I could probably make them into usable infantry for Landship...

Actually, I agree with that banana.

And the moral of that story is not to aim to do anything you cannot do yourself. If you can do this, by all means, please do so. Just its better to have a decent enjoyable mod, like Blitz1, than some aweinspiring DDay, and if you can get something off the ground, you're far more likely to get the help you need to forfill your final objectives.

I'm working on mideval .shps right now, so I have about 25-30 to go and then I'll be in the industrial age (which the later half includes the above units). These are for my historical mod based on CIV 3. I might have the WW2 units done by chirstmas time.

As for sequences they have stand, run (no one walks) idle, death, shoot, and victory. They do not crawl, duck, or shoot in a prone posistion.

I also have, but couldn't find the cameo for:
German soldier
German anti tank
German heavy machine gun
American anti tank
Russian soldier
Italian Soldier
and about 5 tanks
and about 10 boats

@McLovin - Don't worry about cameos, I'm sure I can cover a few cameos no problem.
@Anderwin - yes, well, its almost there...

I CAN do all of this myself, but I would like the help of others so it can be done faster and better. If you don't want to help, thats fine, but I DON'T need your fancy blah blah blah your nothing, I'm everything, speeches. So save it for someone who cares. Oh, and before you say it, I have been around the community for many years building my skill, so do not think you can mark me as "noob".

Anyway, for those of you who want to help, thanks for the support.

Good for you, I just assumed from the fact your initial post requests people to work under you to do almost everything and no progress or outlines posted that perhaps you required people to work under you for "you" to get anything done. Forgive me for the misunderstanding.
Also, technically a "newb" is someone who has not been around for long, a "n00b" is someone who goes around asking people to do almost everything for them and flaming anyone to attempt to give them any advice, regardless of how long they've been around for, and something I never called you. Nor did I ever say that I am everything. Beyond that, beautiful recruitment speech.

WW2's been way too overrated...just wait for D-Day already! <_<
Heck, I got a better idea, why don't you all team up your 3 little mods into ONE SINGLE MOD?! Work would get done much faster, and this D-DAY mod would be out in no time. But nooo, you have to make ANOTHER mod which won't be out before D-DAY is...

Explain it to me, where's the logic in all of this? O_o

@Alex: You gotta have competition. Else we're gonna lose sight of who's got what kinds of skills. And anyways, waiting for D-Day and Blitz would be easier than merging everyone, as both mods have different terrain, voxels, and I'm sure different infantry and buildings.

@Jeeves: Good show. #Tongue

@4Star + Anderwin: Good luck, have fun, hope to see you disprove everyone. I don't have my hopes raised though.

Different objectives, assets, feeling, styles of play, etc. The well developed styles and structures of each mod are what makes them so good, whilst it may be possible to just cram together bits and pieces it would lack the game-play, consistency, and atmosphere of any, so the end result would not be worth the effort of integration.
Essentially, loss of all style quality and panashe; instead of a beautiful dinner suit you'd end up with a fluro yellow and grey trackies, and a pair of moccasins. Would not look good, would not feel good, and you'd spend half the time wondering wheather to kill yourself or go the whole hog and grow a mullet.

Because, NOD, TS only supports 2 sides, for starters.

VTOL P-51 mustangs isnt very accurate either.

Ok, I'm back, and I figure that I still need to wait for a couple more volunteers before I can really get started, I'll be making units and infantry, seeing as I finally have 3DS MAX. Now I just have to figure out how to get the right perspective angle.

Anywho, Jeeves, the "noob" comment wasn't for you it was just in general, and on the lines of a vietnam based mod, there wasn't that many vehicles used because of the harsh jungles and uneven terrain of the mountains, so it would pretty much be an infantry war; not too exciting for me at least.
