Subject description: For those with dial up, who can't watch BattleCast Prime Time.

Mike Verdu was recently interviewed by GameSpot to tell them the same things said in the Battle Cast Prime Time. The interview gets repetitive and boring after some time, but for those who can't understand people speaking english very fast or have dial up connections, this is a good option. Here's a snippet:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
GS: Give us an overview of what we can expect to see from the expansion pack. New units for each faction? A new playable faction? What's the main focus of the expansion?

MV:
Command & Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath features a new single-player campaign with a fresh story, a new set of live-action sequences with a celebrity cast, a new way to play Command & Conquer, and a wealth of new units, structures, and powers.

I'm particularly excited about the story and the campaign, where we will bridge the gap between Tiberian Sun and Command & Conquer 3, expand on what actually happened during the Third Tiberium War, and then take players into the future--after the events of Command & Conquer 3's story. The arc of this story is epic in scope and the chapters set just after Tiberian Sun will give longtime fans of the series something special.

When it comes to gameplay, our new "global domination" mode is the big story. Imagine a strategic layer added to the classic RTS game play that lets you wage war across the entire planet. We're also introducing subfactions with new units and structures for each of the sides in Command & Conquer 3--the Global Defense Initiative, the Brotherhood of Nod, and the alien Scrin. Each subfaction favors unique strategies and styles of play. It's also worth noting that we've answered the call of many fans to bring back hover technology to GDI and cyborgs to Nod.

If that weren't enough, we've chosen to use the Xbox 360 version of Kane's Wrath as the platform for our next-generation console RTS controls. We will debut a new in-game interface and control scheme that makes playing Command & Conquer on [a] console even more fun.

There's a lot of cool stuff...and we can't wait for fans to get their hands on this expansion.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A lot of blah blah blah up for grabs. Enjoy it and its strategic layers!

It all sounds.. all too good.
But, I'm worried they'll be trying to cover a lot in a very small amount of time.
Granted, it looks like they've been working on the expansion for some time already (maybe it'd have been better if they spent that time working on the initial patches, SDK and the BattleViewer in time for the release?) but it is still a lot to get done in time for early 2008.
And 20 years is a long time to cover something, and would take a lot of work for it to be covered with any remote sense of detail. I mean.. even if they did a mission a year, that is a lot.

So yeah, it sounds brilliant.. but I think they're biting off more than they can chew. I worry that we'll either have features/plan simply cut out, or the entire quality across the board will suffer due to a rush.

But as I've said before.. expansions have always improved the original games in C&C3.

Does that mean they will also bring titan back?

I can't see a way for them to start just after TS without bringing back the TS units, so logically the Titan must be in it.

What worries me is for it to be done properly it's going to contain so much new stuff it could be a stand alone game. Which might lead to it being more expensive than your usual expansion.

They've obviously been working on it undercover for some time, maybe even since before the original game as is the case with many RTS titles. The estimated release is a little less than a year after C&C3 so I don't think it will be rushed in that sense.

That sounds to me that they'll include 2 campaign sets, before/during TW's campaign and after TW's campaign; which might mean that the 2 subfactions intended for each side will be OLD GDI, and OLD Nod, though I dunno about the Scrin. Anyways I hope it will be good #Tongue

No, it'll be one campaign going from before TW, through during TW and then to after TW.

An impression my friend got from the announcement, is that the campaign in KW maybe that it would only be one sided. IE, just Nod, following the movements of Kane.
Would make it a lot easier for making missions covering the entire 20 years.
And, its usually Nod's story which is the interesting one. GDI is always about stopping Nod, that is its only agenda, whereas Nod always have something else.

And what about the Scrin? Would they get any new missions? If so, what exactly would it entail for them? Besides the odd scout mission before TW, they must really just be about afterwards, surely? It would be nice though, if they investigated stuff like the crashed Scrin ship (from Renegade) or the Scrin ship "built" by Kane, seen in TS.

And yeah, I feel they would need to add a few older TS units, but I don't think they'd have to add everything, only a few units, and I certainly don't expect them do to everything. Namely, I think they could get away with the Titan for GDI (Wolverine, Hover MLRS or Sonic Tank would be nice, but probably too much to ask for as well) and for Nod, units wise, they haven't changed overly much. It'd be nice to have a tick-tank back, but its not essential. I think the Cyborg is the best we'll get for retro-Nod.

It'd be nice to see the Mk.III in the TW environment. It'd be very nice.

I am intrigued by Verdu's mentioning of building vast bases, with epic battles. Is that in reference to just some big battles like in some of the TW missions, or will it actually be different, and a bigger scale to what we've seen and had before?

I'd think they'd need at least two GDI units just so there's some variety.
But it depends what's happening in the mission as to what they are really.

General encounters would probably involve Titan and Wolverine groups, but if it was some kind of special base techier hardware would be better.

There's still quite a while til it's out, guess we'll have to wait and see #Tongue

"Time will tell.. time will tell.."

Also, the world domination mode interests me too. Like in TS and EBFD. I am curious as to whether it is an online thing, like in TS, or whether its a single-player thing, like in EBFD. If it is single-player, I would love to have a co-operative option available. I very much enjoyed working on the EBFD missions with my friend.

BFME had it in MP, no? I bet it'll be MP like in BFME. Another game that had this was Dawn of War: Dark Crusade (but it was in SP only).

there was also a conquer the world single player mode in rise of nations

don't hope for sonic tanks as they have a new concept for some kind of hover sonic vehicle

it would be nice though if they added all the TS:FS units/buildings , even if they're only in the .big files , and not used ingame, like that, converting TW to TS would only be a matter of minor coding

I know I am not a massive fan of CnC 3 but I am really looking forward to whats going to come out of this. If the attempt of bridging the gaps and polishing off a few problems works I'l be pleased.

No the first time was correct, TS + FS is 1 of my fav C&C's and C+C3 is the worse so far.

As for the expansion, the name says it all, Kane's Wrath, sounds like Yuri's Revenge, how sad, they cant even make a good name for it, how can they make a decent expansion.

Damn EA is so lazy to put the MLRS back, MLRS would never be replaced in a long long time and they had to forget about it -_-'''
- and you cant forget the orca bombers plus the wolverines, who would replace power mech suits???

And for NOD, u cant forget the NOD armor which suddenly turned into cheap clothes with cheap guns
- you also cant forget the NOD laser, The NOD subteranian technology and BANSHEES plus plasma technology -_-;;;;

ORCA bombers are in the game. Use a GDI airstrike. Wolverines are slow, clunky, and look like portojohns with MGs strapped to them..

There is a Nod laser turret, 3 of them, actually, Sub crap wasent explotied much by WW anyways, and the banshee is in the game. The original banshee is the Stormrider.

MLRS is not in the game because there is no need for it now that GDI have the Juggernaut.

Juggernaut was in firestorm aswell with the mlrs so why not have both of them in TW also?

Because the MLRS was already there from TS, removing it in an expansion would've been an odd thing to do.

But when it's a whole new game you might aswell streamline things.
The Pitbull is like a lighter version of it anyway (in that it fires missiles at least).

Now I think about it the name is pretty awful for the expansion pack, but if they are going to be paying more attention to TS and FS then it would be good to see the larger good elements kept and worked into CnC 3 and the larger bad elements at least somehow worked a bit to make them not crap. The fact they have mentioned at least bridging the gap from TS / FS makes me think CnC 3 combined with this will be pretty interesting indeed.

On topic, my expectations towards the expansion are mixed. On the one hand, some things do sound good, but then again, that was the case with C&C3 as well and the game somehow didn't appeal to me at all, so I'll wait until it has been out for some days, and if the majority of players, including those who didn't like C&C3 that much either, report that it is great, I'll buy it. If too many report that it doesn't improve enough, I won't.

MLRS is not an artillery, its more of a demolisher unit like in TS and FS and I meant the orca bomber design and The wolverine is a mini anti infantry mech and is extremely usefull against infantry and now that the cyborgs are coming, what will the cyborgs opposite be???

Depends.
If there's a base cyborg infantry like in TS there either isn't one or we haven't seen it yet.
If there's only Cyborg Commando type cyborgs then probably the Sonic Tank (which is sonic by the way, some people seem to think it's a railgun tank when there's pictures of it clearly firing the same wave thing as the sonic defense tower).

Nothing there is new. "Global Domination" was in Tiberian Sun and Red Alert 2. Sub-factions has been around since.. oh.. Red Alert 1, Red Alert 2, and.. Zero Hour. :/

Although it is good to see they're bringing back hover tanks.
