Ok, it's not really CNC3 editing, but it has to do with it.

How much memory/cpu/ and what type of video card do I need to run CnC3 smoothly? I bought the game the day it came out, but haven't been able to play it. From my teenage money getting schemes, I amounted a small sum to upgrade my comp.

At circuit city, I found video cards ranging from the GeForce 6200 to the GeForce 8800, do I really need the top notch or would something in the middle suffice? Power depends on the card.... and right now I only got half a gig of ram, should upgrade to a wgole gig or would two be better.
(I know that top notch if always the best but is it always neccessary?)

Geforce 6800 with 256mb should do it. I run a 7800 GT with 256mb, it runs freakin' smooth, on maximum settings, though you'd probably find a 8600 GT more useful, especially if you have Vista.

Also, lol @ that username of yours.

I am running a 7950GTO, and I've got everything on ultra, with no lag.
But I think you could get away easily with a 7800GT. 7600GT or GS, if you don't mind things on medium.

If you want a card which would last you longer, it'd probably be better to go for a 8XXX card, from nVidia, as they have DX10, and thats the new baseline for graphics.. providing you will be using Vista. But if you're not fussed about that, don't spend your money on it. You'd only feel it if you got Supreme Commander or Crysis.

With memory, there isn't much difference in reality between 1GB and 2GB of RAM, at least not at the moment, unless you use really RAM intensive stuff, which I doubt you will.
I'd get one stick of 1GB ram, that way you can easily get a second stick to boost yourself up to 2GB later.
But I'd go for some realitively fast DDR2 ram, like around 533MHz.

What CPU do you have?

Honestly I don't know lol, my freind who's into hardware talks about it alot though, so I have an idea that it's important.

The sticker on my comp says:

3000+ AMD Athlon xp Processor
512 MB PC2700 Ultra SDRAM memory
80GB 7200RPM Ultra Hard Drive
CD-RW/DVD-ROM Combo Drive 48x32x16x48 max speed
Integrated graphics with 64MB shared Video Memory

(Also I'm running WinXP, andI don't care about sound really, I usually turn it off and listen to my own stuff).

For C&C3, 1 Gig RAM is enough. be sure to buy the right RAM, though, PC2700 means your motherboard probably only supports DDR 266/333, not DDR400 (aka PC3200), and definitely not DDR2 RAM.
For graphics, you probably have an AGP slot, which limits what kind of card you can buy, since most graphics cards today are for PCIExpress.

So adding 1x 512MB PC2700/DDR333 RAM probably is the way to go.

About graphics card, that depends on how much money you are willing to spend. I'd recommend either a Geforce 7600 GT or Radeon X1950 GT, the 7600 GT is cheaper, the X1950 GT faster. If the 7600 GT is already too expensive for you, you could also go for either a 7600GS or X1650Pro/X1600XT, which are noticably slower than a 7600 GT, but should be enough for C&C3.
