Community News!
Subject description: Covering 20/08/2007, with the typical laziness from Banshee.
Hello everyone! Sorry for the lack of news recently. Some recent events has twisted my priorities against PPM. First of all, there was an UAW event and I thought it was about time to update Petrolution. Due to some code issues, I've lost more than a day updating thatn site. At least, this issue is sorted now and updates should happen in a more frequent basis, with less work.
The second thing is that the article I've sent to SIBGRAPI about the voxel normals was accepted. The article was somewhat fine, but the presentation was lame according to some of the people who reviewed it. Out of three reviewers, one said that the work is original, while two said that there are many techniques to do that. I have yet to find one and Google didn't help me enough with that, nor did my calculus teacher or the teacher who oriented me. There was one article that explained how to find the normals of voxels with opacity, but I hardly could use any info from this. The other articles I've found, found the normals from pictures and there was one that used 'templates' to find normals. None of them are my case, really. But I have ten days to fill the work with a proper bibliography, fix my english, improve certain sections of the article and make a poster for it.
And a lot of random things have affected me too. So, let's get straight to the community news. At this exact moment that I'm writing this news, it's 1:03 am at my local timezone, so don't be surprised if I rush with it, because I wanna sleep right after posting this news:
Tools
-> NPatch Special Edition #0018 was released. This patch improves the moddability of your Yuri's Revenge and is or will be required for many mods. This version adds a lot of features, specially factory types, Prerequisite2=, Toggle Power, customizable crew and much more. Check it out HERE. Also, Mix Protector 1.2 was released, probably fixing some bug.
-> Both TibEds were recently updated. TibEd 1 is a friendly looking INI editor for the old C&C games and Dune games. TibEd 2 works for Generals. This program is interesting for those who want to start modding, but at the moment, there is no compatibility with ETS, Rock Patch and NPatch. The changelog is simple. TibEd 1 has better to support for TD and Vista. TD and RA1 from The First Decade can be launched without problems now. Also, TD cameo loading is faster. TibEd 2 received some bug fixes. Check the full list and download TibEd at TibEd.Net.
Interviews:
-> Dario has started a set of weekly interviews at Planet CnC and he has posted already two interviews with mod leaders. The first target was Kolonel Klink, from Tiberian Tempest. In this week, he interviewed duuude007, leader of Tiberian Dawn mod for C&C3.
-> CnC World has 29 Zero Hour new maps. That's really a lot of maps to download and dippers also received some other random items, from a C&C3 map to a TS mod. Download spree, baby!
-> CNCNZ is blue again with a nice, new and fresh looking layout! Great job, Sonic!
-> Planet CnC has gained new forums that interact better with the site. Now you can see the number of comments in the news again!
