Remember the mod I was (aka DaFool) was making? Well in the first topic I mostly covered the ancient era units that I will include. The skirmish games are fun, and I noticed they got alot funnier as the game progressed, because having a full tech tree (late game) was alot funnier than having a really small one. So I decided I wanted to have the ability to start a game with all the late era technologies and still have the ability to start from the dawn of man in another. So I made a game type called "Mideval Ages", where players start off knowing all the secrets of the ancient era. So as of now there are two basic game types:

Battle: Start off at the dawn of man and build your empire as you build your economy, lead massive armies, and research various technologies. The game starts you off with caveman and you can research up and till present day if you choose.

Mideval Ages: Don't feel like researching all those ancient era tech's? Like to have a full tech tree and several units options from the get-go? Then start off in the Middle ages with full access to all the ancient units and the option to research mideval techs such as feudalism and chivalry to augment you forces with new and more powerful units.

I can still use help with this mod so if you are interested pm m or make a post. I am accepting maps (see below), voxels, animations, .shps, really anything you want to acontribute I'll see if I can work it in.

Maps: Since this game is suppose to show transition through time, I discourage maps with cities and/or large amounts of buildings. Also Ore is not longer needed as a resource so please do not put any ore/gems/drills. Your contribution will be appreciated

Voxels: Basically anything from boats, catapults, ballistae, planes to ICBMs.

Animations: Arrows flying through the air, catapult rocks, anything to do with a sidebar, main menu, or load screen,

.SHP, I am very much a newbie at 3d modeling and making buildings would be greatly appreciated, and although I am currently using converted CIV 3 units, (because this is my tribute to their games) I plan to eventually makemy own.

I put some more pics up shortly, see the other mod announcement entitled "historical mod" for old pics. I'm about 15%done.

EDIT: I forgot two structures, walls and ancient fortresses. walls are walls and fotresses are like battle bunkers for archers and musketmen.

I lol'd.

Chariots are obsolete by the time Rome even exists. Colliseums are Roman things, too. And you misspelled Medieval.

Good job.

Chariots can only crush people, and even thats risky I'd imagine. Egyptain chariots were VERY light. You seem to be thinking of the bulky racing chariots the Romans used in the Hippodromes. Horse mounted soldiers are better.

Or Elephants. You saw 300 surely.

I guess I could take the chariots out of the middle ages, and crushing can be done by other heavier units, such as the knight and elephant, and of course to counter crushers are the uncrushable spearmen/pikemen. I really should put a list of all the units up because frankly, CIV 3 has a really primitive statistic concept and for balancing reasons I am going to have to deviate. Heres a question; who's a better defender, an archer or a spearman?

Depending on how and against what you are defending. It will be very hard to have right balance if you want at least semi-realistic historical mod. YR engine simply isn't good for that.

Yeah, I know in real life most weapons kill in one hit really, but a fight can go longer because of counters, sheilds, armour, ect ect. So the problem is when making something like this is how take into consideration all these factors, a legionaire can block arrows indefiantly with his sheild, but he is still not immune to them. Also stratagies that rely on formations are basically void, so basically everyone's gonna be in a big mongolian war horde.

On a brighter note, I've basically got every unit there is up to the crusades, and I plan on a really long and extensive campaign (how many missions am I allowed to have in one campaign?)

...atleast this guy IS TRYING to put something useful towards the community, i think he gets that score more than you do. i cant say you do anything remotely helpful other than just ztyping spam. jesus you think you could say something helpful once in a while? it would definately be nice. god its all the same with you gufu, you ruin a damn good topic with your non-sensical bullshit. we are ALL sick of what you do here, so you can either change, or leave. im partial to the second option myself. have a nice ztyping day.

PS: i so hope i get banned #Tongue, or this post gets deleted Very Happy

I suppose it is a "civilization rip-off", but I like to call it a tribute. For those of you who don't know what civ 3 is, it's like a giant game of chess, risk, and sim city combined. The only problem with it is that it's turned based, so I decided to put some real time into it. Smile

Anyways heres the tech tree for the midieval tecnologies you research and the bonuses you get from each. Medieval for this game is about from the fall of the Roman Empire to the year 1815 (after that is called the industrial age).

On a side note is funny to count how many post have to do with the topic and how many have almost nothing to do with it.
