For the most part, done.
I took extra time to make a nice collapse animation (I'm the first modder to make one of these!), so release is delayed until tomorrow. _________________

However, spend another thought on that collapse animtation... sorry, but you failed there
TBH, don't even try. I'm not questionning your skills, but there are extremely little decent buildup animations that have been made on a 2D basis (example is the Yuri cloning vats by Cannis iirc, and even that was "just an edit" of the soviet one). I doubt collapse anims would be any different.
You *need* a 3D model for that, everything else will look like gufu perfectly named it - card pyramids! Last edited by pd on Mon Aug 27, 2007 7:02 pm; edited 1 time in total QUICK_EDIT

Well, I had to make one, dude! Or else it would play the crappyshit Paris Tower one. _________________

Do you really think I'm going to go back and completely remake the animation because people... think it looks like a collapsing card house? I spent around 3 hours on the animation and by no means intend to make another one.
It was funny the first time, now you're just being damned annoying. _________________

While it wouldn't strictly be a pre-release restoration, there is a 3D model of the tower at the official tower website. Why not just recreate it in 3DS max or blender, then it would be much easier to animate. QUICK_EDIT
Gufu, please, shut the ztype up for your own good!
@Brian: The first explosion in the collapse animation shouldn't follow the collapsing tower, instead, it shold continue "running" in the air. I also think you should make the tower fall to the ground. Somehow. I know it's damn difficult, but could you try? _________________
Personally the only real problem with the animation is that is has far to many pauses during it.
For example the tip of the structure blows up (which looks fine) but the structure part underneith, that collapses, just falls down, stops and then another part collapses down, stops etc.
The best bet is (like pd said) to get a 3d model and make it with that. That way you can do alot more and make it look fab. _________________

Actually, the explosion would follow a bit, a structure that weighs 7,000 tons wouldn't just pass through the air, it would stir it up enough to force the heat and fire downwards.
But I will work on a new animation tomorrow. _________________

Also, the animation should be a lot slower. If you look down at the other building destruction animations, you see that there are a lot more smaller explosions in the first frames, and then one or two big ones in the last frames to wipe the last of the building out.
Btw, so far, the animation doesn't give an illusion of a structure that weights a LOT. It falls/breaks too quick, considering how tall and heavy it is. _________________

The physics of the collapse animation are pretty realistic as far as how the structure crushes in on itself. It just needs to be smoother and the final frames should have a lot of dust particles. _________________ 0h noez!11!!! one 11!! If possible, it would be cool to see it first break from the middle, so the tower falls down, then break from the four legs, so the rest of it falls down. _________________

Actually, that's what I tried before this one, I couldn't really get it to look good... sorry dude. _________________

Just for fun, I tried that myself, but for some odd reason, PSP makes the rotated images blurry...
Lmao, so does photoshop. That's what an after-effect custom sharpen filter, and a magic wand to remove the anti aliasing is for. Works like a charm. _________________

The top looks like it burns down even though it is metal, needs to be slower and perhaps a few more bangs.
The damaged animation needs to have damage in the middle of the tower not just top and bottom.
Apart from that, beats the release by far...
Edit:thats if you make an updated version. _________________ http://www.ppmsite.com/forum/files/tifansig1_copy_180.png[/img] QUICK_EDIT
The collapse is actually pretty well conceived. We don't have to have a virtual 9/11 comission like investigation to see why what esplosions do what, but it is very jerky in movements. Compare this to say the White House collapse animation. Both are fairly quick and simple, but the WH one is not jerky in the least. _________________

if you make the top of it "tilt" 2-4 frames, and smooth the rest of it, the death anim is near perfection! I also noticed the "rest" of the top after the fist blow changes quite a bit befor and after it leans to the right nothing big, but if you want it to be insanely god-like good, that's it _________________ This is a signature QUICK_EDIT
