Subject description: GUI Patch upgrade.

I'm looking for as many old versions of 3ds2vxl as I can find.

So far I have:

0.3
0.47a
0.479
0.479a
0.479b

I'd like anyone that has any versions older than 0.3 and/or between 0.3 and 0.47a, to please send them my way A.S.A.P.

I plan to have my GUI Patch update as many older versions as possible to the latest version.

Please don't do it. ViPr don't like old versions of his programs available and supported anywhere.

i've already said in my readme that i don't want people to keep old versions of my program because it is unfair bad publicity for me for people to think my program is so buggy when it is not.

there is no reason to use old versions because they always have bugs that i have fixed in later versions. i cringe at the thought of people using old versions.

there is also the issue that if people don't get the latest version then there is less people to find the new bugs meaning they are less likely to get fixed. plus if people make a bug report and they don't have the latest version then i will be wasting my time looking for a bug which doesn't exist which takes much longer than looking for a bug which does exist, and in future i will be less likely to listen to bug reports if i suspect that many people tend to not have the latest version.

All three of you completely missed the point of locating old versions.

The patch will NOT just update the GUI in old versions, that's not even possible.

The patch will update any versions older than 0.479b to 0.479b. So if somebody has 0.3 the patch will update to 0.479b, NOT 0.3a or something stupid.

I like to use only last versions, but every versions of tools for C&C (Westwood games) collecting on my HDD.

The latest version of 3ds2vxl makes use of SDL_image.dll to support more image formats like png and jpeg as textures. The zip does not come with the required dlls and the program doesn't run. My custom patch includes the required dlls. If I can support any old version with my patch, users will only need to download the patch instead of two files.

Your comments are baseless. How will this spark a problem? You probably still don't understand how the patch works. If you had 0.43 and downloaded my current patch, it would NOT be able to upgdate your copy to 0.479b. You would need to download 0.479 and then my patch as well.

If I get all those versions from Siberian GRemlin, then the patch will update any of the listed versions to 0.479b, it does NOT leave the program at it's former version. 0.43 will not just get a face-lift, it will become 0.479b! Latest version with the new GUI!

Enough of your pointless complaints. They hold no ground.

What does my patch do? This:
Any Old Version -----> 0.479b

I don't see why you can't just bundle them into one package.

would make even easier but noooo got to make it a process...
Just rerelease it as a whole package jeez ¬_¬

Simple reasons for this:

1. 3ds2vxl is not my project to release.
2. ViPr doesn't want me to do that.
3. ViPr doesn't want me to release pre-patched versions either. Hence the patch.

If you can convince him otherwise, you'll never see a non-patch version with my GUI.

In any way, you should include new EXE file and you won't have any problems with old versions.

please can someone hook me up with a WORKING 3ds2vxl including ALL DLLs it cant find!? its frustrating me since i tried manually downloading all .dlls already etc,!

in future i will make things easier although there will be a serious downside and that is that i suspect that IcySon55 will get tired of updating his package long before i get tired of updating my program which means that the latest versions of my program will feel like a serious downgrade.
