Random community announcements...
Subject description: And some of them are also very mysterious.
If the quantity of mods already released recently isn't enugh for your needs, we are constantly receiving cryptic subliminal messages about interesting things that are comming soon.
The first one comes from IsoTX, where they recently announced Middle East Crisis 2 for Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars, which is a sequel of Middle East Crisis mod for Zero Hour, bringing Israelis and Palestines to the battle, from an apparent neutral point of view.
Here's the press release:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
""Mideast Crisis 2"(MeC2) is a total conversion for "Command and Conquer 3: Tiberian Wars" and is developed by Isotx as the sequel to its "Command and Conquer: Generals - Zero Hour" conversion "Mideast Crisis". The staff for MeC2 is largely composed of core team members from past SAGE engine mods such as; Blitzkrieg 2, Halogen (now known as Asylum), Mideast Crisis and Rise of Rome.
MeC2 features 3 distinct factions; Israel Defense Forces, the Guardians of Islam and the UN Peacekeepers which you can play in both multiplayer and singleplayer spanning maps (and missions) from Beirut to Jerusalem.
MeC2's gameplay focuses on occupation warfare within cities using 3 types of resources; money (from occupation taxes), fuel (from oil derricks and gas stations) and special ammunition (from ammo crates). We're also bringing back secondary resources in the form of; embedded reporters, settlements and hacking."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And the second subliminal message comes from an unknown source with unknown purposes. All I know is that this is being spreaded in the whole internet. The only tip was something that something will be revealed on 20.09.2007 (which should be tomorrow for most of you). Anyway, here's the message.
Marines die. That's what we're here for. But the Colonial Marine Corps lives forever. And that means you live forever.

I get an Aliens vibe from that, as I played AvP2 online since its release to about 6 months ago, and I am pretty sure its the marine insignia.
The actual insignia for the film comes veeery close to that up there.
You throw in the fact that EA scrapped the PS2 Aliens: Colonial Marines game, and the fact theres been rumours around for ages of a new AvP game, this is a good possibility of atleast being related. _________________ AI

It's the Asylum mod (HaloGen without the Halo) being made for C&C3.
"Make your decisions accordingly" is from the I love bees ARG prior to the Halo 2 launch and the poster is based on the "Fight for Her" poster on the Pillar of Autumn.
There are Aliens games coming in 2009 from SEGA (an FPS by Gearbox and something else, an RPG I think it was) for those who are interested. _________________ QUICK_EDIT

I agree with Natus that really gives off a colonial marine vibe, and being a huge fan of the alien movies I really hope it is. AvP extinction was too sad an rts.
PS: Ickus halo didn't have colonial marines, they have UNSC marine corps. The USCM is a bit different but the marines from halo are influenced by the USCMC especially sergeant johnson, down to his cigar habit, being a master sergeant and african american as well. _________________

I'm sticking to my guns. EA worked on prior Alien games, and the insignia is very close, so I am putting money on it. There has been talk of AvP3 for ages now, and most notably, PCZone I think it was (UK) edition, a few months ago, did hint that it was in development. although, in fairness, no one has come forward with full details. I think only time will tell in truth, possibly Asylum, possibly AvP, the latter would not surprise me in the slightest. Although, it would help if the origin of the image was known, that is for sure.
Somewhat disapointed for two reasons, the clear use of the Aliens insignia as a base and the fact that this is indeed not an Aliens game. Well, I throw my hat down, mans on the mark. _________________ AI
