Subject description: a really important request for modders

please post your original mods even if they are one of your first editions as some modders (like myself) are finding some of the coding for command and conquer 3 are a bit confusing even though many tutorials are there..they dont explain enough in detail....we would like for modders to upload original files or even just some of the ones they edited (maybe not all) so we could review the code and create our own mods...but i will not copy the codes...only learn from them.

Dude, why dont you look at the default TW xml files? Confused
Its not like they are written in an other language. Some values may be different, but they work the same way.
And if you cant understand the default xmls, there are chances that you wont unterstand the modded files....

Personally, I believe that things are best learned through experience. Don't expect modders to upload their unfinished mods just for you, instead try downloading one of their mods and comparing what they changed in the files. Thats how I taught myself to mod generals! Anyway if you are smart you should have no trouble figuring out the overall coding format.

Read the .xml files in the CnC3Xml folder that comes with the mod SDK.

You won't learn anything more from other people's files than you will from those files unless you're planning on copying people's developments.

Trying isn't difficult, but making your xml files work ingame does. I still can't see any changes i made ingame (sorry if i hijack your topic thedarkmaster Wink )

sorry to all the replied people...to answer one....i have read tutorials but the ones i read dont work...but i do understand how to mod...ive done it quite alot in the past....i actually just need help on one topic.

i would like a good tutorial (not the one by stevevirus)(although he is a good modder) (his didnt work) thanks...the tutorial i would like is how to put structures from neutral sides and into different factions....like having scrin being able to build lightning spikes without the wait on the power and having gdi build bunkers...etc....thanks...it would mean alot if you could help

i know exactly what to do but the problem is that wen i am finished it dont show up ingame...so...what next please?

congratulations to myself....i finally managed to figure from experience how to insert buildings ....it took great determination from which i have to thank all those that told me to keep trying...thank you...i now have a starting ground for my mod Very Happy

Nothing better than doing something yourself.
The sense of achievement is great, tough to get to, but then that is what makes it great.

And with C&C3 being so new at the moment, there is more chance for you to work on new things, which haven't been done yet, for you to share that with the community, and feel even better when you see the appreciation from other members in the community.
