BTW, Mig, why classical music? And by any chance, is Wagner in your list or Chaikowsky?

You mean Tchaikovsky?

Been playing Tchaikovsky, Bizet & Gershwin lately. I find classical music very inspiring, something about 100 ppl all playing in unison for a few hours. Modem music with the same computerised beat repeated over & over for three minutes just doesn’t do it for me really TBH.

You like classical music? damn, now I can't mass-insult everyone who does... Ah well, there is something kinda awe inspiring about it, all that organisation, all the possible slip-ups and not one happens, if only life was as well organised as an orchestra in concert...

Heh. KISS did a great show with the Sydney opera a few eyars ago. That concert was one of the best ever. But I can't really agree that all new songs have a beat that is repeated over and over. Ska, punk, most psychodelic rock - all amde of win. But hey, if classical inspires you to finish D-Day sooner #Tongue

Music with computerized beat is called techno/dance/electronica, and it all sucks pretty awful.

Split the topic.

And I'm more of a film score man, myself. I love a nice bit of Hans Zimmer, John Williams...

Well, I find ethno metal like Sepultura or better yet, Soulfly, the closest by feel to a war game. The sheer speed, power, the quitar riffs and the voice of a Max Cavalera and the rest of the team - that's very inspiring to make mods.

Hans Zimmer owns ass. Very badly.

Not all techno sucks, There are some that actually sound very good and would suit being put into games, namely Infected Mushroon, Astral Projection etc. I cant stand songs that repeat nonstop for 3 mins also.

Its all about personal tastes.

I oppose your comment. You must have lsitened to some pretty crappy techno as the stuff I listen to is utterly top-notch

Any music, even electronic music can be good. It only depends on the composer. Although I didn't notice any good hip-hop, or whatever is rest of that on today's TV called. Like metal/punk/electronica/jazz/classical myself, even some Slovak/Czech folklore music.
Maybe because I trashed my TV half a year ago and I don't bother to get a new one:p.

I rarelly see good music on TV (unless it's MM's Trash metal night #Tongue)

MTV sometimes has good music. There's this guy, Serj Tankian, who sounds a lot like SOAD...

He released his own personal album for some reason, But it sounds exacly like SOAD when there together. IMO all of this doesn't make sense.

I find the Red Alert and Tiberian Dawn (and sometimes Tiberian Sun) soundtracks are good as modeling music.

Thats true, it gives you insparation because you feel more in the game (because of the music).
I mostly listen to the TS and RA2 soundtracks when modding...
[hint_to_himself] copy RA2 soundtracks from other pc to this one #Tongue [/hint_to_himself]

Yeah.

Anything without lyrics (or with very minimal lyrics) seems to work well but C&C stuff is more fitting.
I sometimes use the Halo soundtracks aswell.

something to electronic/computerized music

brian, you are wrong and your comments suck.
nearly every music sort today is made by computer programs, even filmscores aren't free of that, the Transformers scores are completely made by synthesizers.
also the klichee electronic music is simply "stupid" techno is flawfull and stupid, electronic music splits in thousant sorts of music and nearly every day a new sort gets addet.

there is Ambient, IDM,EBM,Industrial,Electronica,Experimental,Pop,even hip hop is made with electronics, and even metal bands include electronic components, everything is today made with the computer, get over it, if you want to listen to computerfree music, listen to death, trash or anything keyboard free metal without any melody, or go back in time and listen to bach and the classic stuff.

There is NOTHING today that is not made with electronics no matter if its only the mixing/masterring.

and i'd like to listen to various electronic stuff from
ambient to industrial as long as it sounds creative, inspiring and had a lot of work in it.

If I'm trying to concentrate, I usually use Pink Floyd. Meddle, Atom Heart Mother, DSotM, Animals, Wish You Were Here. One of those. They're very instrumental and I find them very calming.

Can't say I've heard Serj Tankian's album, the single I heard sounded vaguely SOADish but that's just because of his distinctive voice. It was a lot more mainstream rock than most SOAD songs, it reminds me of Chris Cornell's solo career. His music is a lot less heavy than it was in Audioslave or Soundgarden as a solo artist.

Pink floyd is lovely, i'd love to listen to them also they made way for the future avantgarde electronic artists.

Depends on what I'm doing. I usually throw on whatever I feel like listening and go to town. But sometimes I need something old to really grind out the code, like Rush or The Cult.
