I've been approached to show off a new mod in the making.
I'm being used as a proxy to keep anonymity, why I'm not quite sure, but still, lets check this stuff out, eh?

All I know, is its a mod for C&C3, it has tanks.. and thats about it..

Anyway, check out the pics, say what you think of them, and any other opinions you want to give about the ideals here.

"A mod that has tanks" is an interesting way to show the unique features of this mod #Tongue...

But the screenies are attractive. I have a feeling that this mod is using the BFME2 textures for the terrain...

can I guess that it is the original cnc brought to the new engine? I see a medium tank, a missile launcher, a humvee, and a mammy hidden behind a tree.

It looks alot like TD...Notice the Mammoth Tank on the 2nd pic, to the right, and also on the 3rd screenie, to the very back. (There's also a 2nd one on that pic which has its front half hidden behind a tree)

considering the map you're using for PR display, i think all the units should have NATO skins instead of desert ones...

Since the Abrams tanks have GDI logos, there's no doubt this mod has something to do with TD, however from the looks of the mammoth tank I know this isn't from the mod Tiberian Dawn (the mod Kushan is a member of).
I think I know who made this, but since he/she seems to want to be anonymus, I won't reveal his/her name (this is also because I might be wrong).

Its not the TW->TD mod by Kushan, it is a different mod.

I know a little more than I'm revealing, but I'm limited to what I'm allowed to say.

I'm pretty sure I know where that Mammoth model came from, but last I heard that mod was dead and the creator was giving the assets away. (So I guess it could be that mod resurrected, or he found a worthy recipient for the assets and it is a new mod.)

On topic: Looks good, diffidently looks like a TD era Total conversion. I like it, the only reason I say TD is the style of the skins on those units. Me really digging the map to.

Very nice, but it looks like some of your normal map information is inverted.

The cross things on the front-top of the track guards and the hatch thing right near the back.

A very nice model indeed Smile , not much more to say... Judging from the ingames, it could perhaps need some more housecolor (remap) areas, but the model and textures are very well made. I'd say this model looks (alot) better than the medium tank from the Tiberian Dawn mod.

It's sad that some of the detail on the model seems to be lost on the ingame shots (is it the same model?); Are the ingames taken while playing on maximum graphics settings? If so, I suggest reworking the specular map or perhaps using another shader... anything to get the awesome detail ingame Wink .

That's what happens when you use 1024x1024 or whatever ungodly too-big texture and then throw it ingame. #Tongue

It looks nice, but you need to focus on overall shading and colors if you want it to work ingame.

Also, the normal map is...weird at places. the front of the turret's white paint shouldn't be normal mapped at all...let alone be soooo 3d.

The model is also very heavy on the polies, has to be what...at least 2.5k?
