I'm sure there are people who'll agree with me that great graphics are not required to make a great game. Rolling Eyes I Mean, look at RA1.

It was released 11 years ago. During it's time, it had great graphics (straight rip-offs from TD, though).

The point i'm trying to get across here, Is that a game does not need to have great graphics to be fun! RA1 Was made, as you said, a long time ago, and MANY people still enjoy playing it, am I right, or am I wrong?
On a different note: Yes, The name Tiberium just by it's self, is complete garbage, I agree there. However, The name does not effect the game-play. Yuri's Revenge could of been called "When Taco's attack!" and It wouldn't of made a difference to the game-play... (Unless the game was actualy changed to Taco's attacking Laughing)

Imagine a game made today with the graphcis of red alert 2 or something similair, but with the minimum requirements of something like c&c3. I mean, a game that focuses not on graphics but on gameplay and content, like having 15-20 unique sides to play, a campaign for each, and hundreds of maps in dozens of enviorments. And I'm not talking about SunAge, that is just a modern game with 2d, I'm talking about something that's content will be totally unmatched, tripling or quadroupaling that of most games.

This topic is going off...topic and my prior posts went completely ignored, so I'm going state them again

First one
"I just had an idea that if they aren't using it, I hope EA will steal it:

Remember the introduction video for Nod in tiberium Sun where they show a dead soldier lying on a ground? The camera shows the body armour he has on his arm-and there's a little screen on it. Imagine using that as a little pda where you can give orders on a map like an rts game, all the while fighting like your in an rts. It would be totally "tactical", allow you to give advance commands perhaps with the same depth as a normal rts and with a click of a button-your back in the battle again. And the "squad" part of the game could be replaced by a giant co-operative fighting force that doesn't have to stick together. Bye bye rainbow six, hello halo. "

Second one:
"I'm thinking about that screen i talked about, think it would be better if the one they had one their arms had limited capabilities in terms of commanding, and back in the base, in the command post building, there was a larger one with full capabilities that one player, designated as the "commander" would operate the battle? I think this will be a really cool and interactive application of rts in fps."

You don't need a ridiculous amount of sides and sub-factions to make a great game.

Its blend of storyline and gameplay. often not gameplay just wins out. but don't take my word for it. I mean in the hey day of games it was Pong and I really like the character development. ^__~

I think that is not a bad idea...its like your almost playing C&C in a FPS. although chances of it being in "Tiberium" are low. maybe not? anyway you can always take that idea and develop it and write up a mod doc and see if people would help you make it?

I think there was a similar concept..Commander Doom mod for Doom3.

anyways. back ontopic.

Visually "tiberium" appeals to me...the dark "TS" like atmosphere.. and the breaking off the "GDIvsNod" story. yea its not TS was we know it. oh well its early to say. maybe we might find some TD visceroids lurking in Scrin playpens? ^__^

TD Visceroids are the only good Visceroids. No morphing or molesting your tanks..Just a good old bright green gas puff.

I for one plan on playing this game before I pass any judgments. A lot of you may hate Renegade, and that's fine, but I still stay up until 2 in the morning blowing up GDI scum online. Very Happy You can say what you like about C & C not translating well into a FPS and "how little effort" EA put into Renegade all you like. That doesn't change the fact that, for me at least, Renegade is worlds better than Halo, and a lot less frustrating. Based upon this screenshot, I'm thinking that we'll be able to expect at least a halfway-decent game, if not the amazing FPS some of you are talking about that would "make up" for Renegade.
