I loved it. It had a true immersion factor, due to its rare film technique.

If it's one thing to help describe it, if you like playing half-life or any of those games, then see this movie. I am not necessarily talking about the story being the same... but the feel you get when you watch it.

Same here. I liked it. being on level with the characters..got a little rough and bumpy. and some moments too fast...making your head spawn a ? around it.

XD Actually there were parts where..omg..Half-Life moment..he should of taken that crowbar from the substation. before venturing into those tunnels again.

I also found it a little funny that the camera man's name is Hud....(Heads Up Display) but mainly a coincidence.

i never heard of that movie but i browsed in youtube and found a trailer, i have to say - wow it looks really interresting and promising for me, the trailer itself left me with the want to see that monster type thingy , and yeah it seems the movie could scare me lol, it's a long time ago since i saw something that scares me but tough, it's definately interresting.

Well their is a reason why the local was chosen..he stated in an interview..so you can see why it was justified. especially in a post-9/11 world...one would think to avoid doing it there..like the RA2 "cover"up. and the YR delay.

Cloverfield is not just some pointless OMGiantMonstarMovie. Cloverfield is the best monster movie that has ever been made. I don't mean to be a Fanboy but when Cloverfield 2 comes out it will rox your face off. Go see it, preferably by buying a ticket and not bootleg.

You must remember one thing, movies don't like to show the American Military as strategic or smart. 28 Weeks Later and Godzilla show this fact explicitly.

Er... most of the time in Godzilla I was laughing about military unable to hit a giant, 500 meters (!) monster with ANY (!) weapon, only destroying buildings around it (!!!). hillarity ensues.

So you keep walking, eh?

So did it come from space or the ocean? What do people think of the last scene?

I been looking at some other Cloverfield posts and I got some really weird theories.

One was the company that Rob worked for hid the creature in some underwater trench via an oil rig, feeding it "Slusho"...

I also recall reading before release it originally it was going to be kids that found the move afterwards on Coney Island rather than some anonymous military. Like they found the tape a mid the rubble after the whole thing was over.

Yea I didn't get to see the part where the thing in the last scene fell from the sky..which implies "alien" in origin..maybe it was an egg or spore? but that doesnt explain the parasites..unless they also where living on that "egg"

from what I know

thing falling from sky is a satellite owned by the company rob is vice-president of.
Grumpy has been sleeping for a bloody long time and has been resting on something called "ocean nectar" or something of the sort
Grumpy gets hit on head by satellite, and follows an oil tanker after it wrecks a mining rig( drilling for something, probably ocean nectar ) owned by the
same company

http://www.slusho.jp/
"slusho makes my stomach explode with happy"

said oil tanker ends up in Yew York
grumpy smashes it, and then smashes NY

in addition, some of the "slusho happy talk" as well as the "history" features the ocean nectar making small things large, other things I've read give it properties that make shit angry.
