Subject description: After one of these evil linux server crashes...
Reply with quote  Mark this post and the followings unread

For those who wondered what the hell was going on with PPM and other sites in this server, the good news is that, as you may notice, we are back and nothing has been lost. I still don't know exactly what happened, but it was possibly some kind of Linux crash, although it's rare to see a Linux crashing. Probably, it's the first case I've heard of it in my life, but I don't have an exaustive experience with Linux systems.

Also, on another completely random update, I'm having a hard time with OS BIG Editor. After 3 weeks, I'm crashed in the internal file move feature. The program is being updated often in the SVN, but moving files internaly is heavly not recommended. You can screw up your .big (or .meg) file by doing that. Also, the Real Time Edition feature is far from being working properly (and I recommend disabling that as well).

Regarding the site, I'm aware I need to look for more modding news and I'm sorry for not posting them as often as I was supposed to.

Also, Tiberian Sun Dusk was the mod release of the year 2007 with 14 votes, followed by Return of the Dawn with 9 votes. Also, this reminds me to announce that the best here mod in 2006 was Return Of the Dawn (funny that I've never announced that before), so for all RotD fans out there, don't be sad.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2007: 1st: Tiberian Sun Dusk 0.9 --- 2nd: Return Of The Dawn 2.7
2006: 1st: Return of the Dawn 2.6 --- 2nd: Tiberium Future: A Dying World 1.01
2004: 1st: Tiberian Sun: Total War 1.1 --- 2nd: Return Of The Dawn 2.3

(Note: 2005 had no poll)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And finally, we've got a new poll asking you if we should support Tiberium and... how?

-> Yes, with full support: Editing forums, tutorials, research, maps, mod hosting, mod coverage and game coverage.
-> Yes, with basic support: Editing forums, mod hosting, mod and game coverage.
-> Yes, just with News: Mod and game coverage.
-> No, it doesn't make sense to support it at all.

We are currently going with only mod and game news (third option), but your replied opinion (registered only) can change that.

Why? You don't support Renegade. Its pointless to support Tiberium.

I play FPS games, probably more than RTS, but I think it shouldn't be added. There are other FPS sites that will support it so I'd keep things as they are. IMHO

Cheers,

My answer is "No, it doesn't make sense to support it at all", I rather support the old C&C Renegade (love doing big vehicle rushes in multiplayer) than EA's (not C&C) Tiberium.

'Yes, with full support: Editing forums, tutorials, research, maps, mod hosting, mod coverage and game coverage.'

Thats my answer.

We need fresh meat...I mean talent...around here, the current selection of material from the current people is growing quite stale like old, left out crackers.

So why do you want to support moving files inside BIG/MEG files?

To keep it more familiar to the users of windows explorer. I'm trying to make the program the most familiar as possible to any windows user.

Vista will be compatible, because I have Vista in my laptop and I want to develop the program with that as well. So, as far as I could test an earlier beta of the program, it was working fine on Vista.

I think I'll still stick with Mod and Game News...that is until it's released or something. First-hand experience says it all.

Though need to upgrade this ol' comp #Tongue
