Jim Vessela and Sam Bass interview by W3bbo, on the Summit!
Subject description: What happened to Veinhole monster? Why is Kane Bald? What happened to Tiberium Flora? And more...
At Planet CnC, Ghorkov (W3bb0) has posted his video interview (using a camera borrowed from Zee Hypnotist) with Jim Vessela and Sam Bass. The questions are great, specially for die hard Tiberian Sun fans. Here's some:
-> What would be the next stage of evolution of the SAGE engine?
(The answer was improved graphics, improved online functionality, new radial interface, etc)
-> Of course there will be new future C&C Games. Of course, right? Will we be keeping the same mechanics or changing some mechanics in future games?
(The answer was something in the lines of we'll bring new features, new characters, but keep the C&C feeling)
-> What happened to the vein hole monster?
(The answer is that it was cut from the game because it increased the ammount of micro management for the player. It was incompatible with the 'fast fluid and fun' game concept that they wanted to C&C3)
-> In the storyline, how are the vein hole monsters dying, then?
(Both Vessela and Sam Bass had no clue on an answer for that one)
-> You know Firestorm had these cool trees stuff. -- Jim interrupts "Ah, the tiberian flora" -- What happened to them?
(Removed due to artistical choice?)
-> Why is Kane bald?
(Check the video for their answer on that one)
I had a hard time trying to understand what W3bb0 said, he speaks just as fast (and hard) as Assassin. Really not friendly for non-native english speakers. There was also a question about symmetrical maps that I couldn't understand much of the question, neither much of the answer, although Sam Bass said about some non-symmetrical maps comming up on KW.
Anyway, it's a nice interview. Check it out HERE. QUICK_EDIT

Its always been a random spam fest... C&C gave birth to tank rushing. _________________ PPM's Reichstrollfuherer, 236th Trollenparties brigade. QUICK_EDIT
I'd propose they come a little after the S in "RTS"...
Indepently from Mei Ling's post, hehe, just seen it.
It's true, C&C was never an RTS game, just who builds more in less time.
IE who knows all the keyboard shortcuts and has faster fingers.

Already a simple thing like a population cap would so change the gameplay in a positive way... meh... QUICK_EDIT
Tank buster units even if spammed still can't counter a massive rush of apocs half the map _________________ Please, read the signature rules of the forum. QUICK_EDIT

If EA is adding a pop cap to C&C, then I won't play any new C&C game anymore. I want big armies when I play C&C. If I want small armies (which I don't want), I will play Universe at War or World in Conflict...
Also, it's bullshit to delete veinholes because they slow the game pace down. They make you think better: shall I go over the veins with lighter units, or shall I take a detour with the heavy units...
That's one thing I dislike about TW: it's sometimes so bloody fast. An avarage skirmish game vs a hard AI is less then half an hour, while a same TS or RA2 game lasts longer...

While Tank Rushing is a derived from Zerg Rush, no?
Considering that Tiberian Dawn and Red Alert are older than Starcraft, I would say no. It's just that Starcraft popularized it.
Also:
Zerg Rush = Early game attack with lots of inexpensive weak units.
Tank Rush = Medium/late game attack with lots of relatively expensive strong units. QUICK_EDIT

Veinholes make you think better? Um what. You can either bomb them or move around them, that changes your tactics barely.(Or if the tank hovers, shit.) Veinholes and all of these natural 'nuisances' that aren't in C&C3 are totally overrated as threats. They're nothing more then decorations...
Also, Tank Rush isn't late game really. Titans come early, Medium Tanks are early. Red Alert games back in '96 usually didn't need to go much further up the tech tree. Just build a WF and a Light Tank every too seconds, or Heavy Tank if Soviet.
The only C&C which really innovated the series was Generals. It cut out the Construction Yard crap entirely, and made almost all of the units enhancable in a way. U.S. getting battle droids to change depending on your strategy, and a strat center. Superpowers that YOU could pick(Do I want Rebel Ambush or an Anthrax Bomb, hm?) based on YOUR style of play. Aircraft that didn't suck for once, a whole team that could upgrade its units as it saw fit(GLA) in combat. Sadly all of that innovation got killed by people screaming for construction yards and Tiberium back. I want Gens 2. _________________ PPM's Reichstrollfuherer, 236th Trollenparties brigade. Ah I lol'd at this idea of the flora/fauna things being cut, thats as reasonable as an explanation its gonna get. No fancy story about some T-Virus that cause a massive zombie visceroid outbreak, and John Hammond trying round up every last fiend for his new business venture "FunPark". That GDI nuked from orbit. Its the only way to be sure. ^___^
Seems they are considered a C&C MMO . maybe not as whacky as Continuum. In a very serious setting. Maybe you can be a Nod T-Rex. bring back the Sole Survivor feelings. :3 _________________ Delirium.. Last edited by Ickus on Sun Feb 10, 2008 9:17 pm; edited 2 times in total QUICK_EDIT

Good God...That is one horrible thing that belongs dead, Craptinuum. But, it certainly seems like RA3 is dead(thanks to the Tiberian fanboy backlash and the Skagg's announcement.)...
I want Generals 2 to compensate for this lack of blimps. If C&C becomes all Tiberium, I am moving on. _________________ PPM's Reichstrollfuherer, 236th Trollenparties brigade. QUICK_EDIT

If they make a new Generals, please let them keep the original C&C building system and sidebar, the old ones are really a c/p from Warcraft... I ain't saying Generals is bad, but I prefer the original buildings system and sidebar. QUICK_EDIT

The original construction yard and sidebar make it more like the other C&Cs, and more likely a spamfest... ZH requires more skill imo compared to the other C&Cs. I'm not saying it is impossible to tank rush (look at general Tai Hung Kwai fot example...), but ZH emphasises strategy moreso than 'CLICK THE LIGHT TANK ICON', and i'd hate to see that ruined by returning to the 'classic' C&C stuff. _________________ PPM's Reichstrollfuherer, 236th Trollenparties brigade. In addition you'll rarely see Yuri or French players in games nowadays...if there's a French, they'll usually boot, almost same for Yuri. It's either the tank rush gets mind controlled, the GCs blast the tanks to pieces or the rush works and the losing one quits. Just hope they don't mess up RA3 If they even make it. _________________ Please, read the signature rules of the forum. QUICK_EDIT
