Ah, it seems like a real C&C is finally here. Red Alert 3. The Hungarian cover depicting a Kalashnikov-clenching Soviet infantryman with a Tesla Trooper behind him, some Kirovs(<3) in the background, and appears to be the dawn of a new era. A post-Westwood Red Alert. In my opinion, however, EA needs to do somethings right to make this a true Red Alert, and not a bad game.

Firstly, de-stereotype the Soviet Union. Both Red Alert games are quite disgusting in their depictions of the Russians. Gregarious, and vile turncoats seems to be standard. A vodka clenching Stalin snapping the head of his General, Romanov (Rest In Peace, Nick. Sad )'s personality also was irritating and quite stereotyping. Yuri as the creepy Lenin-esque figure. General Khukov, the idiotic fool who cared only for his awards, Nadia the slut, and bumbling Gradenko. All of these disgusting and shameful depictions of the Soviets need to be done away with. Red Alert 1 and 2 spew bourgeois propaganda against the Soviet Union, like a McCarthy-era textbook. Give us real Soviets, who support the glorious people' state, and are not out for a vengeance war, but to unite the workers of the world!

Next, Retconning is seriously needed on the world map. Fix the ztyping borders please. Retardwood Studios didn't care much for Red Alert and rushed it, totally ignoring these details. Red Alert 1 and 2 both also have this habit of depicting just Russia as the Soviet Union, which is terribly wrong, and on the same level as naming the 13 colonies as the United States, while discarding the other states. Armenia to Uzbekistan, and every SSR inbetween must be part of the Soviet Motherland. Using them as seperate 'nations' like in Red Alert 1 works, though. eg: Kazakhstan SSR getting faster aircraft, as Kazakhstan is host to the Bakinour cosmodrome. Keep the Soviet Union a UNION! No need for Iraq and Lybia or Cuba to be involved with RA3 if you keep the Soviets UNITED!

Uniforms. Blegh. 1's uniforms were pretty bad. Random metals placed against regulation and in silly locations. 2's...wtf. Lieutenant Sofia looked like a sex object rather then a commanding officer. I am here to blow up the enemy, not get off to Russian women in latex. Sorry. This isn't porn, its war. Get the damn uniforms right this time, too. Soviet manuals are easy to find, and please, Don't use ROTC ribbons. Its quite funny since I actually have a few of the awards General Vladimir has in RA2, sitting on my uniform.

Music, finally. D= Please, get Frank Klepacki if you can. He's the only asset Petroglyph has, yes, but, he _made_ the sound of Red Alert. When people think of Red Alert, Hell March comes to mind. What Red Alert game would lack Hell March? Worst case, go get some Soviet marching music from the 40s+. Authenticity FTW. I want my Kirov Airships to fly over Moscow with 'March Of Stalin's Air Force' blasting and some grainy noir looking color.

And thats the end of that rant for now. Mostly about the Russians. I'll do an Allied rant sometime soon. Apple Pie and Democracy can ztype off for now.

Finally somebody with the right view on the C&C universes! Smile

I agree totally on the music!
I would have hated Klepacki doing Tiberium Wars, but for RA3 he's a must!

A thing EA must do is - despite as you said this is war - keep it colorful. Red Alert 2 had a kind of colorful and "happy" style with it compared to tiberium games, and that you got to love.
I don't want a RA3 that looks like TW or World in Conflict, dark and boring and serious, RA has somehow always been the funnier side of C&C and should stay there.

The stereotypes are a tough one. They do add funniness to the game, but of course not only one side should be carrying them out.
If the all the Soviets are given a vodka bottle, all the Americans should be carrying a big slice of pizza.

Another thing.
We're sort of in a time where there are 3 sides in C&C games, I don't think RA3 will be any different.
Yuri is obviously no option.
What could be the third RA3 side???

Llet the stereotyping and frequent use of tropes begin....whoohoo -_-
I mean, seriously, what do you expect seeing a woman with an ak-47 and a very form-fitting "uniform"?

Another reason for getting a new PC. *sighs* Time to get a job.

Ontopic, I'm rather happy about this, and I agree with Carno 100%. Make RA3 win more than TW.

Dude, what the hell. Out of thread, Pig dog capitalist!! Pictures only serve to distract the proletariat! This is the opiate of the forum member!

I'd like Red Alert to be less serious then Tiberium/Tiberian, agree'd, PD. TS was too serious...and when it tried to loosen up, it just looked bad. 'Lets kick some ass...', every moment was 'OH GOD IT KEEPS GETTING WORSE'. It never had a moment where your accomplishments were rewarded, imo. You'd secure a UFO site and then Nod was coming to violate your troops. You'd secure the UFO and jump off to something even worse. I never saw my accomplishments rewarded. Hell, a video of some cheery civvies who were rescued from a village full of Tiberium monsters would've been nice.

Yuri never died, really, though. He was in the psychic isolation chamber, but, what could've stopped a few initiates from breaking him out? Besides, how do we know the real Yuri is there, and not a clone?

Where's the game and the fun in a true to life Soviet war machine, i dont want to replay WW2 i want to play Red Alert. The stereotypes ARE red alert, the silly uniforms, the ridiculous characters, all have become part and parcel of the series.

If you want to play a realistic game get Sudden strike.

"ATTENTION COMRADES!
EXCLUSIVE FIRST LOOK
at Glorious Strategic Soviet
Victory in Red Alert Universe!"

That leads me to think that they followed the Soviet RA1 or Soviet YR ending.

Man...I hope they don't mess up this anticipated game. Need something to counter tank rushes.
