Samurais on Red Alert 3!
Subject description: Japan will fight against Allies and Soviets!
The Hungarian magazine PC Guru was released today and fans already translated some interesting information from it. YkudzA, from Game Replays, has posted some very interesting information extracted from the magazine on his forums. Here's something:
-> Factions:
- Allies
- Soviets
- Japan
-> Units:
- cyberbear-paratroopers
- samurais with laser sabers
- airfighter-transformer
- Japan soldiers with a plasma gun, but this unit also have a cap (hat) which provide shield field and allow for digging
- Mirage-tanks
Of course, other units like Apocalypse will return (maybe with different names).
The screenshots in the news below are from the same Hungarian magazine, so they are real.
The people leading the project are Chris Corry and Amer Ajami. RA3 will be released to PC, XBOX 360 and Playstation 3.
The game will feature about 190 minutes of movies with real actors, in a comedy genre, like RA2. It will use an improved version of the SAGE engine with improved particles system and more realistic buildings destruction. In short, if you thought that C&C3 is hard to mod, RA3 will be a bit harder.
Update: GameReplays.org info was taken down, so let's add here the remaining information:
Storyline (According to YkudzA):
Quote:
Red Alert 3 will begun recently after the win under USSR, Kremlin on the fire and Russians decide to .... turn on Time Machine !!!! For killing Einstein and corrupting all Alliance plans. When the expedition return (Einstein was captured) to "home" (present time), they understand that Kremlin is fine, Alliance are pretty weak and. Whatafucк - new Empire was born ------- JAPAN !
And the game will feature cooperative campaigns with Generals system (ZK, KW). Last edited by Banshee on Wed Feb 13, 2008 8:10 pm; edited 1 time in total QUICK_EDIT

This is much too high tech for RA3! And come on, it's plain stupid to replace Yuri with Japan. Or EA must have a real great story to counter this... QUICK_EDIT
*screams,then kills retarded EA*
Are they really nuts? How can they make a Japan faction?Japan loosed the war with USA as the Iwo Jima monument is in Red Alert 2.Its not an offence to Japan but its somehow nuts. QUICK_EDIT
Classic WW2 never happened in Red Alert. There were still the war monuments, but that doesn't mean that the US nuked Japan to unconditional surrender. Thus, Empire-style Japan still exists. _________________

Ah, so EA did remembered the old Time Machine. That explains a lot. I will take back my words, but not about the high-techyness, especcialy when they have used the Time Machine... QUICK_EDIT
Japanese are hardcore.. they'd make a good faction
(except for having lightsaber Samurai - what the frik???)
I agree 100% with that statement. I mean honestly....laser sabers...wtf.. they are making Japan seem waaaayy more technological than they should IMO. _________________ Kalistia Crestland (2)

It does seem a little... over the top, what with sea-bound power plants, amphibious battleships (WTF?), and has anybody else noticed the bulbous-shaped drone on the conyard/war factory/whatever it is? It looks like it belongs in a loony tunes cartoon. _________________
I think there is a typo in that guys quote; a win OVER the soviets, not under (kremlin wouldn't be on fire if they won). This game has alot of questions to fill as of the moment, and I am looking foward to it (the most prevalant of which, what is the release date?). I've tried to make a mock time line to what I'm getting out of this story. With time machines, anything can happen, and the year of this i think is like late seventies, early eighties? If you think it's too hightech, think of it each time they go back (this is like the third) they give their old counterparts all the new technology. So Eisntein originally had all the post WW2 technology, could have gave it to the pre ww2 einstein (well, it could have happened:/) and then each time they go back, you get like 20 years of technology in the blink of an eye. I wonder what happened to yuri, maybe they are keeping him as a secret. and I wonder why they would give away japan so soon?

C&C3
Using Japan as one of the factions is, in fact, surprisingly original, considering that we're talking about EA.
@everybody ranting about EA discrediting and butchering Red Alert: RA2+YR was the worst kind of discrediting and butchering RA1 possible. Imho, RA2 was to Red Alert Universe what TW is to Tiberian Universe, with the difference that it was much more fun. With that foundation, I'm sure that RA3 will be much more creative and fun than C&C3. Not really a challenge, but still. QUICK_EDIT
The logos really implied something very different. Possibly something that maybe Ren2 started but very much improved...no not a storyline tie. but in terms of visuals something that I guess could of been very interesting. At least how I imagined and I do agree with some points carno mentioned.
its just the appeal seems seems very sugar coated to be taken seriously at all, then you look back at the Magazine covers..not what you expected, which as something beyond the RA2 cartoony atmosphere. I don't mind the outlandish technology, but I do mind how it is portrayed. I kinda expect maybe something like what Gangster was working on that RA1 sequel..or something with the flavor of Reign of Steel, only for a Red Alert.
Its like eating over frosted sprinkled cupcakes with cherries on top etc. they can look good, but they taste horrible. Ah, food metaphors. The frosting the Cover, the taste is the screenshot. :0
Oh well...keeping an eye on this seeing how it develops, at least maybe some interesting mod may come along the way.. _________________ Delirium.. QUICK_EDIT
If this is anything like it is now, it'll be like eating a frosted, sprinkled turd! I can already tell the samuri is gonna be underused by players unless their out of money, just messing around(OMGNINJASGUNNAVISCRATEYOASS), or if they have C4, engineer, spy, or even attack dog logic. _________________ Comcast: Yo dawg we herd yo were downloading, so we put fail in yo modem so yo cant download while yo failin! I'm somewhat surprised that Japan HASN'T made into the RA universe so far, considering it was already conquering (and massacaring)throughout the far-east well before WW2 "officially" started.
Sure, RA1 centered on Europe alone, where we don't really hear about anything to do with the USA, and Europe wouldn't be concerened about Japan too much anyway (except for some of the big powers with colonies there, like Britain).
Then RA2 came and centered on the USA for some reason (seriously, did the USA even show up explicitly on RA1 anywhere?), we got the Yuri plotline and the rest is history (or WAS history and has been changed again by time travel? WTF? ). QUICK_EDIT
huh? Japan is the pinnacle of technology... giant robots FTW.
Ahem...Japan was hi-tech due to americans.Americans started to biuld Japan from its war ruins.
also noooooooooo Dracula monkey?have you've been brainwashed from the amercans? QUICK_EDIT
Well, it does seem that they were at least trying to keep the seperate CnC games in their own art style. RA3 looks a lot like a 3-D RA2. At least it looks like it to me. TibWars had that gritty and dark feel its predecessors had as well. I'm not saying thats good or bad, its just looking like it.
I hope the Japan side won't be those annoying factions that occasionally appear in games. Those guys that just like to be a thorn in the main faction's sides when they duke it out. Say for example, you have Allied tanks battling Soviet tanks and random laser-sword wielding Samurai guys just come out of no where and start wacking both sides vehicles, then both have to completely halt their fight to deal with the stupid bonsai before they can continue... _________________ Im Westen Nichts Neues QUICK_EDIT
yea I definately understand that. Keeping the RA2 flavor for the fans. why tailor it to TS fans?..doesn't make sense as a marketing perspective. when you have a chunky RA2 fan base infront of you.
I just imagined something totally different from the 'zine scans..The artwork was beautiful. I am not bashing on RA2/3 at any rate. Just expected something different this time around. _________________ Delirium.. QUICK_EDIT

Why not tailor it to the TS fans? they already did enough with the TW X-pack. Besides, RA fans generally don't bitch. _________________ PPM's Reichstrollfuherer, 236th Trollenparties brigade. QUICK_EDIT
I personally feel this has to be a joke somehow...a bad one at that...Something just makes my joke sensor go off.
I must agree, adding in Japan as a new side sounds random and silly.
I would have thought they would have been apart of the allies
EA has alot of explaining/story connecting to do I'd say, good luck to them, they'll need it

And stop telling everyone to shut up when they dont praise RA3 or EA as though they were god & or the messiah. Geeze, we have a right not to agree QUICK_EDIT
Well, the storyline/plot is much, much better than the idea of Yuri, anyway.
Still, lightsabers? Real transformers? Sounds strange, but maybe they'll make it seem somehow realistic... maybe. Eitherway, it could be fun. QUICK_EDIT
True, Imperalistic VS Communist VS Capalist is a good fight, and better then the idea of Yuri .
Still the units like lightsabers and transforms sounds..... odd. QUICK_EDIT
if i buy this game it will solely be because of my inner weeaboo...

Having Japan as a country is unique...but I wouldn't want any kamikaze planes or lightsaber-wielding nijas that hop from here to there dodging tank shots and slicing tanks to pieces...lol _________________ Please, read the signature rules of the forum. QUICK_EDIT
