Is it possible to export the old w3d files (Skeleton and animation files) into the w3x format?

I would like to use some of the infantry animations from C&C General Zero Hour (The climbing animations of Burton and the Sniper Animations) in C&C3 if its possible. Any info abour these?

I see no reason why not. You'll have to import them into 3dsmax and probably do some scaling and cleanup before you export them to w3x.

But if you want to apply the animations to other infantry you'll probably have to edit that infantry as well.

I have heard from somewhere about a w3d importer made by coolfile (the 1.07 version of the w3d importer which supports animation import). But i could not find any working link to it anymore. It was supposed to work in max 7 and 8, so it would have been helpfull. if i could only get a copy of that max script, importing the animations of generals infantry into C&C3 would have been easier.

The w3d importer works for 3DSMax 9 as well. You don´t need to use GMax/RenX at all.

You can get the W3D importers from www.renhelp.net

I'm not really sure they work on 9.0 of 3DSMax. I use 8 and it works fine. Animations are imported aswell
